    Question Wholesale/Import Websites?

These two questions are directed towards those of you who are doing real business with wholesale companies or directly with foreign manufacturers. I need some suppliers.

The goods I will be purchasing are for re-sale on eBay and an e-commerce site. I'm young, self-employed and have capital to get started. I already have a small warehouse to store the products and access to transportation companies. My questions are:
    • What wholesale websites do you use to find and order your products for re-sale?
    • What websites do you use to find products, directly order from, and establish relationships with foreign manufacturers?

I understand that I have to make large orders to get into the business; I just need to know some specifics to get started. Point me in the right direction guys and gals! Thanks in advance.

    Hi BizGeek,

What type of products are you looking at sourcing?

I usually use TradeKey and Alibaba when looking for suppliers in China. There’s many stories of people been ripped off and scammed but as long as you do your homework you should be fine. It’s definitely important to build good relationships, making friendly conversation and keeping your Chinese contacts up to date with the progress of you’re business helps.

It’s not always a requirement to order in large quantities at first though it is cheaper and they’re obviously looking for the big orders. To some degree it depends on what you’re ordering, some suppliers will be willing to send you samples or small quantities for you trial.

The best thing to do is get talking to them!

Its tough to say that there is one perfect solution to your problem. alibaba.com and globalsources.com are both great resources...but as you discover some of the pitfalls you will realize that you just cant blindly sent money to just anyone.

Finding a good supplier in China and developing a relationship with them is key. You should consider attending the Hong Kong sourcing shows and the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China in April.

I will be going...let me know if you want to join me

I find all of my wholesale and dropship sources from:
Drop Ship Source Directory - Real Wholesale Sources!

It's the best site I've found.
