Quite A Bit Of Help!!!!

Hello everybody! I'd like to introduce myself I'm David Carrizosa, I'm 22 I currently reside in Gilbert Arizona. I work in the automotive refinishing industry as a painter, to be more precise I do custom painting. I just started to do high end projects for professional athletes as well as for other customers who want a high quality job. I've been at it hard and strong creating my own doors of opportunity and success. I am very diligent when it comes to staying on top of the game I do more than what is possible, to have a few extra tools to out due my competitor. I always go to important shows, seminars, clinics, courses and I'm constantly looking for new books, videos and Talented painters who I can learn from. I enrolled in school for business in general for now, I don't know what to take or have a small clue of what makes an entrepreneur. I have a virgin mind for this and for what I have read it is complex and patient. I am aspiring to one day be an investor or something like an entrepreneur, I'm looking forward to put this same energy, effort, character and dicipline to becoming an entrepreneur. I think I started at the correct place. I look forward to reading on all of this and putting it to work. As a starter what books, videos, courses, websites or tools do you guys recommend me to start with or how should I begin. I would appreciate the help I receive from all of you and if I can help with questions when it comes to my side of the job I'm all ears. I know the longest journey begins with the first step, so thank you for your time and I hope I didn't take much of your time. Have a good day.

David - yours is probably the best introduction I've read on this forum in the past year. You have a fantastically uncommon attitude. I'll now get to the point and answer your questions.

What makes an entrepreneur

The making of an entrepreneur is when you see a person exercising the 4 entrepreneurial roles. It's similar to defining what is a painter. You know a person is a painter when you see them doing what painters do - prepare a car for painting, mixing paint, applying it to the car, and delivering the car to clients ect. Likewise, you know that you are an entrepreneur when you do what investors, founders, ceos and company directors do.

In other words, you know that you're an entrepreneur when you make board level decisions (director), and manage the risk equation of the company (ceo), you founded by aggregating resources outside of your control to solve a large problem experiences by homogeneous customers (founder), and you do this because you've identified your startup as a good investment opportunity for your self other investors (investor). That's what entrepreneurs are and what they do. They are people who create investment opportunities, and they do it so customers can increase their quality of life/ escape pain (consumers), or be more competitive (corporate).

What next?

If you want to be an entrepreneur - you need to engage your self in the first two roles of entrepreneurship: the role of an investor and a role as a founder.

Quite simply - you need to develop an investment thesis and undertake due diligence to identify a market opportunity which is a substitute without substitutes (i.e. it's better than other opportunities - and no opportunities are better than it).

Then, having identified an opportunity, you need to create an investment vehicle to commercialise this opportunity so you and other people can benefit. This means means being a founder and it means and involves a lot of things.

Are you sorta getting any of this?

!!!!!!!

Excellent that's what I'm looking for and much more. I appreciate your responses and interests in helping me out. I will look into taking those courses for school, and I will work on defining and breaking down what you said. It is very straight and simple yet I don't grasp it at its fullest. I do thank you for answering with a quality thorough explanation. Thank you for your times and help. I will be lurking in the shadows until I have good questions for you guys, if its not a problem?
