    Ordering from wholesalers

Hi i am in the process of planning a clothing store. I will be making my own designs and i have a few questions about ordering garments.

When ordering garments from say...American Apparel, are the shirts going to be shipped to me with an American Apparel size tag?

    edit:

what i plan on doing is design the graphic myself and have them printed onto existing clothing that i would order in bulk

so i'm not sure where to get started. any help would be appreciated

    David,

Check out T-shirtforums.com if you haven't already. Shirts from AA and most other manufacturers will come with size and cleaning info tags. A common practice for clothing companies is to have these tags removed and your own custom tags sewn in or screenprinted inside the neck. There are companies that offer relabeling or you can order the labels then have a seamstress do it for you.

If you aren't ready to order inventory and go big you could try opening a storefront on spreadshirt.com. You just upload your designs then they print them on demand. Spreadshirt is limited to vinyl cutting and digital printing though so you are slightly limited in printable designs since they don't use screenprinting.

    Best of luck

    David,

If you are thinking about 40 pcs per color, so you could find out a clothing manufacturer that made clothes with your measurement and then put your logo on it.

Wouldn't that be a question for American Apparel? Why make this harder then it is? Just call them and ask them. You need to be careful where you get your info from... don't going looking for advice from people when you can get an exact answer from the vendor.

American Apparel offers great customer service, so I would e-mail them or call. Tell them you're interested in setting up a wholesale account and they will link you to the application, or probably fax/mail it, whichever is easier for you.

econscious is an organic wholesale company, I think they offer custom tags.
