Need some advice on a business idea.
Hey,
I started up a web design business a few months, went quite well, but I wasnt really interested in it, and I decided it wasnt something that I wanted to further expand.
My passion is people and merchanting.
I want to setup a business that sells nightlife products at venues / close to venues. Id be selling things like: glowsticks, led necklaces, shutter shades etc.. all low priced decent profit margin items.
I also will be setting up a website for the business that will allow people to not only purchase from me when im out but also purchase for delivery over the net.
My main objectives would be to get some sort of deals with local clubs so I can setup a stall of some sort at the entrance desk's of the clubs, where people would be able to buy the products before going in.
If you have any ideas/criticism etc.. I'd love to hear it all.

Idea: hire teenagers to do this for you (the standing in the rain selling 1 item on an evening part). Give them 50% of the profits they make.
Also: think it over, because this is a totally different from what you did before. Are you seriously passionate about this or is it just something 'entrepreneurish' that you think you can make money with? Money shouldn't be your motivator, because you'll quit when things don't go so well (maybe you noticed this with the webthingy).

Hey,
thanks for the reply, the web design thing was purely about making money, and I didnt really enjoy it at all. I love interacting with people and being a salesman, and I feel this niche is great for me. I'm 18 at the moment, and im attending university, so I hope once I get a decent amount of interest in the business I can do some sort of deal with my uni for all the student union clubbing events.

All I hear is... I tried.. it was to much work... I want easy money... give up while your behind. If you can't make the first business successful then why try a second? It's called laziness...

Hey,
unfortunately you are hearing completely wrong. The web design was going great, but I did not have a passion for web design, and I was only really in it for the money. I want to make a company in which I enjoy what im doing, aswell as making money, and I feel this sort of company is something I would enjoy through good and bad times.

So you're going to give up on a successful business? I'm calling BS! People don't give up on a successful business they grow it. I stand by my previous statement. I would wager that if you actually sat down and thought about what you were doing you would (if you have any sense of self honesty) would come to the same conclusion as me.

I ran the web design business all by myself and to grow it would either require more time on my part or to employ people to do it for me, i wouldnt of minded putting in more time but I do not have a passion for it. I'm 18 and I dont really need money right now, so id rather do something I enjoy and make money, then just run something because its working well but im having a shit time doing it.
you'd rather run a successful business that you have no interest in, than a business venture that you have alot of interest in and has the potential to be just as successful if not more because of the passion you have for it?

I run five companies so I'd rather run a company that makes money. You're to young to be worrying about whether or not you have a passion for it. You need to do what you're good at and make all the money you can. When you are doing a million a year in sales you can sell off the company and/or just milk it so you can take advantage of your 'passions'. You are one of the entitled generation that thinks you get to live your life full of passion and everything should be the way you like it. Get over that now or end up broke at 30... I'm speaking from experience... first you get the money then you get the power... what movie is that from?
