"Marketing" idea

Dear experts,

i have a business idea, but however i don't have any funds to carry out my idea which only a corporate company can do so. I have targetted my idea to a singapore brand name company but how can i go about "selling" my idea? As i don't represent any company and also be careful about my idea being used but not given any credit. What can i do? Would appreciate if anyone gives me some advice. Do i need to come out with a business plan or something?

Many thanks!!

nahh...don't worry about any of this..

you're not the only one with ideas. there's like 100 million people like you. it's the great Western dream - to make millions at the snap of your fingers because you're brilliant.

essentially, you're asking about how to commercialise something.

the answer is a very long and complicated.

it requires you to make sacrifices, and frankly - I think you shouldn't do it. it's way too stressful, and you're not qualified.

just take it easy, have a normal life. when you're ready, the answers you're looking for will appear.

right now, it's probably best just to shrug you off, and if you're made for this stuff, you'll come back in 6 months waving your contracts for delivery, and telling me how stupid I am.

(Side note: The explanation for why this is a condescending, useless post is because (apparently) the best way to help entrepreneurs - is to reject them, so they are angry enough to go out and figure everything out on their own so they can rub it in the face of the person who rejected them).

In order to grow your idea, in most cases, you still need to talk about it with some people you can trust, and that is why networking and making friends is crucial to your future success.

If it is a solid, actual product, I would look into getting a patent for it, but because it is a singapore company, you never know if they won't rip it off anyway. If it is an idea.. you can make a Joint Venture contract with you as an independant consultant for the development of said product/idea/concept/etc. This would allow you to maintain some control in this, otherwise, as soon as you make that pitch, they will have one of their guys working on it. All you will hear the next week is: "We are sorry, that proposal is simply not a viable option for our company at this time."

You can't sell an "idea". That's like trying to sell a dream you had.
