Hello every one hopefully you all are doing well. I am David from Gilbert Arizona and I'm 22. I'm very new to this entrepreneurial/business way of life and I am extremely determined in being financially independent in the future. I currently work as a custom automotive refinisher (kustom automotive painter) I am very good at it and constantly are evolving. I'm an up and coming top gun not by my words but by my work and words of my peers and elders of this industry. I put all of my effort, knowledge, heart, pride and soul in my work. I constantly travel to attend clinics and seminars and have every book, video, or web site I find. I've worked for the best custom shops here in Arizona and worked for or along side of elite painters. I took/take notes and study every top gun and elite shop I set my sights on to over come any situation or competitor that gets in my way. I do work for my self and have enough clients and connections to start my own shop, I market my self as best as possible and I'm always trying to get myself known. I always get calls to see if I can customize a vehicle or some kind of opportunity to go to the next step, but the market is so saturated and at the same time so popular at this point I don't think it’s good for me to take on such a task. My age does not help one bit because people are accustomed to very mature looking men, people feel that it takes 20 plus years to be a top gun. I am very ambitious and am currently attending a community college for entrepreneurial/small business studies, but there’s nothing like participating in the challenge. My work is pretty well known here so what do you guys think I can do to get started little by little as a business man. I have a facility where to do the work out of. It does not belong to me but I've done favors for a few people to have this at my disposal. In other words how can I come up with a steady way to charge and market that is and looks professional, not just a guess? Thanks for all of your time and help, you guys have a good day.

if your market is so saturated then why not offer the customers a better deal than the competition.

you could try by getting a website that is tailored towards your local area and why not advertise in google/yahoo local search since that area of search is growing by leaps and bounds.

A saturated market means less profits unfortunately.

Since you attend lots of seminars and are well versed and knowledgeable in your field, why not become a recognized expert and hold seminars and teach others how to do their job better, why not make a video that shows better techniques. Attending seminars, reading, watching videos and advancing in your niche only leads to you becoming and profiting from it if you become a seminar leader or a speaker or a creator of a product/business that people need. Think about that and best of luck to you.

It is very important to at the least have the demeanor and appearance of proffesionalism, no matter what service you provide, or type of work you do. Quality is key, and developing contacts is important, but most people would much rather go to an "expert" in the field than someone working out of a buddy's garage (no insult intended). I think in your case, that although the market is saturated, there is always a need for quality work at reasonable prices. The trick is to get your marketing and networking to match your output potential. You don't want to have a mass-media marketing campaign drawing 200 customers a week, when you can only adequately handle 5.

All of those are great ideas, and I will look up into them and put them to practice. I did start out of my friend’s garage, but I quickly moved up and started to work out of other peoples shops. I quickly made connections and won shows here so now I'm being invited to be in other big mainstream companies (Meguiars) booths at shows. How can I market on the web?
