Help Please

Hello,

I am a 28 year old male with a B.A. in Communications and will be finishing my M.S. in Information Systems in August 2005. I have worked in marketing for the past 4-5 years and am looking to combine my marketing skills with my information systems background. I have a very broad set of business (marketing plans, print media, online marketing) and technical skills (networks, html, javascript, etc...) that I would like to utilize.

I'm looking for ideas for starting my own business. Not sure if I just want an online prescence at this time but that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm currently in the brainstorming stage and am looking for ideas. I live in Chicago, IL. I also currently work full time and would like to start a business in my spare time (after work, before work, and weekends) until it's up and running.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Mike

starting out..

Hi there Mike,

Sounds like you have quite a diversified skill set. This should assist you when you are ready to start you own business as it will allow you to ensure things are done correctly.
As for advising you on 'which' business to start, I think thats a difficult question. You may want to consider launching a website and freelancing for a while until you decide on what you REALLY enjoy doing.

Sounds like you would be an asset to many companies, so utilize your skills and start promoting yourself!

What type of print media have you been involved in?

Most of my print media experience is in the financial sector. I work for a financial exchance in Chicago now and manage our print media campaigns as well as our overall marketing plan. Yeah, I'm probably going to throw a website together for the time being and freelance as you suggested to get some contacts/project experience on my own.

Thanks for the info. Have a great day.
