Car Parking ???
Hi, my first post here so hello hello, how do?
got a quick question - anyone here ever owned/worked with or on car parks? Im in the UK and been thinking that getting hold of some land, if only small, near town and turning it into a car park because they are always fighting for spaces 24 hours a day and would make a killing with my own. But is there any problems with just buying some land and charging 'x' amount of money an hour for it? i.e. fees, legal, council...
any help on the matter much appreciated.

I am no where near knowledgeable in this field, but the first that comes to mind, especially if it's going to be multi-storey is planning permission. I guess you would have thought of that already though.
Is it a brownfield or greenfield site?

well it will most likely just be an area of rough land that will need tidying up. People can then park wherever they want on it. I think thats the cheapest way wihtout having to pay for tarmacing it, spraying the lines etc. Ther are some car parks near that are just basically tidied up fields. So they will be used to it

great idea, but you must think on the demand of the parking space.. is there high? and if the place is high in demand for parking, isn't the land will be expensive? do you have the capital?

Well it doesn't necessarily have to be in the centre of town, it could be on the outskirts, people selling parts of their large gardens to pay for home improvements is a big thing here, so lots of pieces of land for sale. Like i said, it doesn't necessarily have to be a large piece of land to start with. As for the cost of it - thats the main problem. Becuase i live in such a rural area, there are lots of green belt areas where you cant build on. Therefore the bit you can can be quite expensive. It could prove to be a park and ride affair, as most people dont want to take/rely on the buses for all their journey. They can park up and walk in, or take the new internal buses that only go to the outskirts, from the car park.

First thing is to find out how much it would be to buy a piece of land.
Then you gotta see if you can come up with a part of the money.
Third permits, licenses, insurance and etc.
Best thing to do at this point, break out directory and start calling to find out some of the information.

I've been thinking for some time that car parks are the new real estate.
Keep us informed of how your enterprise goes. I've been thinking of doing the same thing myself. Just a bit of waste land that isn't being used, and if you introduce a barrier payment system, you don't even need any staff (except for repairs).
