Can't find any startups/entrepreneurs in my field!

I am a pharmacy student. I originally got into it because it pays $100,000 coming out of college. I have found that no one wants to start their own company because the job security is very high. I have also found that businessmen don't want to get involved in pharmacies because they don't have the specialized knowledge.

So this is where I am now...
I have a great way to use vending machines, computers, and online video conferencing, to change the way pharmacy is conducted. I have talked to countless family friends (all pharmacists), and fellow pharmacy students, as well as pharmacy lawyers. My idea will work, people like it, and its legal to do.

Not any of these people, however, have any clue how you start your own business, nor do I. I have tried local meetup groups in Austin, but no one seems to care about this part of the healthcare industry.

So where do I go?
I need to find a partner that has done a startup before, or someone that has business experience.
Anyone on here have any advice, tips, or could guide me to other sites that could help? I could really use some help and appreciate any input. Thanks!

PS- if you are interested in my business plan, and want to get involved, please send me a PM.

I’ve successfully navigated the start up process and have a company with expected sales of $1.5M in 2008. You need to write a business plan. Do a Google Search for ‘how to write a business plan’ and follow the free samples. Once you have a business plan then you’ll have more to discuss with potential partners. I’d be interested in talking more once you have written your plan.

Go out and buy a book on business.
If you want some suggestions check out my websites Library of Wealth.
Brad Sugars books are probably a good place to start. The Business Coach is a good starter.

A proper and thorough Business plan is a must. This is more than just what the idea is
but the research on target markets, what marketing, products, pricing etc... the kind of thing you can take to a bank and say give me $100000 to get it going and they love it enough and feel that you've done the work that they say "yes"

Bigdog,

That is a very interesting idea that you have. I happen to have the video conferencing platform already developed. I'd like to hear your idea much further. Let's talk.
