2008 Mid-Atlantic Business Plan Competition for College Students

The MIT Enterprise Forum of Washington-Baltimore is commencing its successful Mid-Atlantic Business Plan Competition for 2008 and expanding its reach. Any college student enrolled in a degree-granting institution in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia may enter the Competition.

The program will consist of an evaluation of executive summaries submitted by student teams by March 9th; the top scoring teams will be asked to submit expanded business plans and present before a judging panel of prominent entrepreneurs and venture capitalists for semi-final and final rounds, which will take place on Saturday, April 26th, 2008. The final rounds will be open to the public.

“Unlike other business plan competitions, the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Business Plan Competition is open to 2-year colleges in addition to 4-year schools, reaches across several states, offers a Facebook group for its participants to collaborate, and rotates its final stages of competition among school venues,” says Joseph Zuccaro, Chair of the Competition and a volunteer with the Forum. “By expanding the Competition beyond the immediate Washington-Baltimore metropolitan areas, we are giving almost one million students attending over 200 colleges and universities the opportunity to take an innovative, technical idea, present it to our vibrant entrepreneurial community, and the chance to win some great resources that will make that business happen.”

The Competition is now looking for student teams to compete, faculty advisors to support them, and sponsors for underwriting to help make this program continue to be a success.
