Where To Find investors

there is no place for you to go look for "investors"
how long have you been in business?
what is your head count?
what are your revenues?

This is just my experience, it may not be a good fit for everyone.
I actually found an investor once for a small property maintenance company i was running by placing ads on classified websites and it actually happened pretty quick. I was surprised, I just took a stab in the dark and placed some Free Classified Ads.
The problem with this route is of course you really have to be carefull regarding who replies to your ads. As you mentioned, scammers are out there and you want to avoid them at all costs.
I got lucky, might be worth a try. My investor at the time turned out to be a great guy, professional, easy going, it just worked out.
We are still friends today.
