    Super simple idea. too simple?

I came up with an idea a few weeks ago and want to move forward with it. But, unlike most of my other ideas, this one almost seems too easy! I read an ad in small biz mag for selling pizza cards. (pizza cards usually offer 10-20 BOGOs) For every $10 card I sell, Id be making 7.50 (buying each card at 2.50). Sounds good to me. Basic street level marketing. But after digging around a bit, I figured why spend $2.50 on what is basically a business card when it truly costs a penny or less in bulk. Thats when I decided to move forward.
I guess the only hard part is finding reputable establishments willing to participate. It seems like free advertising, but they basically pay the cost of 20 pizzas per card.
I want to set up street teams to go out and sell these cards near the restaurants, and eventually have a network of affiliates. any thoughts?

I guarantee you they sell them at $2.50 because that's probably the cost of ingredients in each pizza, so while they might not be making any money, they aren't losing any either and at the same time they're bringing in new customers. Your post didn't really explain what you were going to do, but I assume you were going to make your own cards and sell them? If that is indeed the case, no businesses will sign up to simply give away their product.

My advice: Avoid being an MLM victim. Make sure your product offer a strong value and canīt be easily replaced by anything else in the market. Money comes from a strong position in the market. Focus on delivering value, focus on taping into your niche. Itf there were money on this business, they would be playing the game themselves, since they surely know the market better than you do.

Ok, I guess I wasnt quite clear about the ad in the mag. The ad was essentially selling information on how to tap into to this kind of marketing, and offered a chance to buy these pizza cards in bulk for only $2.50. The info cost $34 for a basic package, and $84 for their GOLD package. Not wanting to spend money on info I can get for free, I looked around online.
While doing research, I notice about 99% of fundraising sites sell these pizza cards at about $1 each and apeal mostly to schools and churches.
The idea I have is to design a card and convince restaurants in my area to participate in my program, then print the cards at less than a penny each and set up a street team to go out to other businesses in the area and sell these cards at $10 each. If I offer my team 20% commision, Im still making $7.99 per card profit, and the restaurants are getting new repeat customers.
