something cool and fun to get involved in

I am looking for one, possibly two individuals who might be interested in making small investments in my new record label. I am not going to promise any HUGE returns but with hard work over the course of 12 months, i can guarantee not only will you recoup but you will make a small return. I have been working in music for nearly 10 years now and own a successful management company. I have been interested in opening a record label for a very long time. Due to the current state of the music business, I decided it was time to take that jump and am ready to have a full launch moving into the first quarter of 2009.

Now, I do have all the funding needed to release the record on my own, however, as a record label, you can never have too much money. I have 3 releases planned for 2009, two of which are very lucrative foreign licensing deals, and one of which would be considered a development project. The additional funding would be used to further develop the roster, fund additional online and print advertising to help drive up online digital and retail revenue and to create enough of a buzz to either secure a stronger distribution channel or to attach to a stronger independent label or major label that has even more resources to further build the brand.

If this sounds at all interesting to anyone, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to send you links to both my management site and the new record labels website. While not a requirement, I do prefer someone who has experience in working in the music business and even moreso, someone with a successful track record. If not, just come in with an open mind, fresh ideas, and a big passion for music and the development of new artists.

    Thanks again

    Benjamin

How much do you need, I love the site by the way. If you only got all links to work and the band on there are really good.

    What work will be needed?

    Thank you!

I have about 10k in total costs left with the startup. The remaining amount is for advertising, the manufacturing of the first release, to be able to purchase 320 shirts/hoodies to stock the online store and to pay off some small things necessary to run a successful label(barcode, trademark, etc). To give you a better estimate on incoming revenue from the FIRST thousand copies is roughly $11,200. This does not include revenue from the sale of any of the labels thirts or hooded sweatshirts, stand alone band merch sales in the labels online store, and does not include digital revenue(this is revenue from places like itunes, rhapsody, etc) and other forms of revenue. Once we get over the 1000 record mark with the first band, we are making money. I have two other releases that i am looking at scheduling to release by the end of the second quarter which come to a combined total of about $22,000. Again, once we have recouped the first thousand copies, we have recouped and its just a matter of how heavy we advertise and how much the bands tour as to how much more the label makes.

Again, if you are interested, please feel free to email me and I can share links of the other two artists we have signed, and will be happy to provide more detailed information as well. Thanks again for looking through things! More changes coming over the next couple of weeks!

Decent site... good idea... terrible presentation. Never tell people that you have all the money you need but you could use more. That means you have no business plan and that you have no idea what you are doing with your money. If you need money ask for it... if you don't... well then don't!

Once you have a real business plan (management, financials, marketing, supply, distribution, and sales) then you might be able to ask people for money. You need to ask for specific amount... you need to say exactly what you are going to use the money for and then you need to be able to tell people what their ROI will be. Until you are ready to do that... DON'T DO THIS!

While I appreciate the feedback, I dont think you read through things completely. First off the first release is a FOREIGN licensing deal, which is why the guys voice sounded different. They are from Italy.

As for assuming that I dont have a "real" business plan. Dont assume that because I make two whopping posts on this site that I dont have a solid business plan in place. Im not about to write a book on my business plans for all to see. I have repeated to anyone interested a couple of times to email me should they take an interest in the company

I dont feel that it is necessary for me to ask for a specific amount of money unless someone takes a deep enough interest to actually email me to get more information on the business and plans for the business in the upcoming year, at which point I would be gladly to share any and all pertinent info with them and in greater detail and we can discuss matters further. (management, financials, marketing, supply, distribution, and sales) AVAIL BY EMAIL ONLY

This is going to be my last post. If anyone is seriously interested, you can contact me through the website.

think you may have a winner....the band sound really good, especially for a foreign band - most of whom sound slightly odd!!

Best of luck with your company...

Thank you, the band has done very well in Europe this past year, and is really excited about working the record hard here in the US this next year. If you like them, wait till you hear the other two artists we have signed. STELLAR!

im seriously not going to listen to your crap roger, im definitely not going to take advice from someone who is a "president" of two websites that look as if he did the two for one special when it comes to the design work. I also looked at a ton of your posts on other threads throughout this site and it seems like you offer a bunch of crap when it comes to advice on how to run a successful business and wouldnt encourage anyone to listen to it.

Rejoice! Definitely stay in touch with me! Have you launched your energy drink yet? Do you have a site? I am working on some pretty nice sized tours this year and have some of my artists on a couple of festivals which you may have heard of SXSW and Cornerstone? If you are interested in maybe working together on one of my smaller tours or even splitting costs on some advertising at one of the festivals, let me know. Have a good one.
