New Social network + Video/Audio streaming and dowload site looking for 1st round investment funds

    Hello,
I would like to share with you a new social network and video streaming/download site, that is about to be officially launched. It is called FilmRookie.com, and the basic idea is you have a social network + a Video/Audio streaming, and download site, where registered users get to split the ad revenue that user's videos generate 50/50 with the company. I can get into the detailed payment structure if anyone is interested.
So the more views your video or 50 videos gets, the more ad revenue that the company makes. Half of that goes into your paypal account.
Some of the features that will differentiate this from many other sites out there is the full blown video editor available for free on the site, so you can upload, and then fully edit your movies with transitions, audio, text, and cut clips and rearrange scenes. Pretty fun tool to use, and it is designed to attract memebers, and keep them on the site. The more users and longer the users are on the site the more, and more revenue the site generates for the company and its registered users.
Another cool feature is the way media is uploaded to the site itself. FilmRookie.com has an open source content injestion tool which allows users to search for music and videos on their own computers, and major sites out there like You Tube, and Myspace.com then upload them with a click. If you have a webcam this tool allows you to record live video and upload it instantly to the site. A video Chat application is also going to be a big hit for the site.
FilmRookie.com is looking for investors for its first round of funding. The initial round will be set at $250,000. The funds will be used for two purposes, one to maintain the backend hardware, and two to fund a comprehensive advertising campaign. The funds will be split 25% for hardware/infrastructure, and 75% for advertising the site itself to attract users. Investor money will be kept in an escrow account, which will only be allowed to be used on a list of approved vendors. All investors will have this information in their investor agreement.

So take a look, register for free, and see how much of the site is completed. The site is officially going to be live on or before 3/1/2009.

If anyone has interest in learning more, or is interested in becoming an investor, feel free to message me. Full business plans with financials are available.

    Thanks!
    Eric

Veikoh: I took a look at the site you provided a link to, and from what I can tell it is a video streaming site for new independent film makers, but nothing that really stands out. FilmRookie, is built to be a massive hub of new and seasoned artists, Professionals, and your casual users, who can earn money simply by uploading their media to the site for free. Once it is uploaded, a user can edit their video, chat with their friends via web cams, not just stream video but download any video or song on the site. It is also built on top of a very massive(and expensive) Limelight CDN Netork, which is 100% scalable to meet, and handle an excessive amount of traffic at once.
So on the surface, they may look a little simiar, but once you dig in, you will see the extensive amount of planning, work, and resources used to create FilmRookie.com

windroadtosuccess: Thanks a lot. It is still being finished up, so check back next week, and you will see some big changes, and new components added.

optionstrader: The company that built the site is called Apogee Invent (apogeeinvent.com)
They are a major investor in this company, and have been a huge asset in getting the company to where it is today.

My idea to setup the Online artist community, digital distribution for indie music, independent artists and independent film makers. site was just to capitalise music/video production by selling them to mobiles to be me viable business option again to produce music/video. Having everything free as MP3 was, made me broke even we got over 1M downloads. Because mobile user is paying anyway several euros (Spain), several pounds (UK) and over ten euros in France to download some clip so why artists and independent producers want make their share of it?
However, everyone is too happy to give their staff free for Google to make money on Youtube/Myspace so I have forgot the idea for a now.
I assume that youy are running it too using FFMPEG2, free or video chat modules has been available. What Im afraid, that making any $250K investment back within reasonable period having only 50/50 advertisement share with artists can be difficult.
Sure, you have good artists joined up.

veikoh, you would need to do some thorough analysis of our proformas, market research, and other financials before you can make reasonable prediction on how a company will do in this market. If you are a serious investor contact me with a PM, and I will send you my personal email. At that point I can send you the full business plan to look over.

    Thanks,

I'd just like to say thank you to the Young Entrpreneurs Forum. We have landed a major investment, and it came from a contact I found on here.

Site Update: Full video editor, and Content injestion system will be online in the next few days. Our ad campaign will start shortly after, so many of you will be seeing a lot more on FilmRookie in the near future.

I love the web design layout! One of the best designs I have seen on this site for a start up company. I'm not to happy with the duplicate of signing up and loggin in on the site (the link at the top right and the forms on the right side) or the types of links you are adding to the page (friends of friends should link up automatically). Also, I'm not sure how you are going to regulate copyrighted videos as well (I noticed a Kanye West video on the site).

Other than that, you have an investment and you have a dream! Keep it up!!

Thanks Kharisma. The site will go through changes down the road once we begin the promotion phase next week. As far as copywrited material, we have a disclaimer that pops up, and user must accept everytime a video is uploaded to Filmrookie.com

Most sites out there, most notably youtube is filled with copywrited material, so we are not concerned. Our site has a business plan at its core, that is to genereate revenue for the company. This on top of our unique features will be very appealing to large companies for a buyout once we have about 5 million unique visitors per month, which is projected to occur in 3 years.
