Looking for marketing partners for Self-Defense/Health Site

I recently got involved with a self-defense / exercise / health web site. We are working on developing a marketing and affiliate program for the site, offering great perks for affiliates and marketing partners.

At the moment, we are offering $5 per successful referral (Member that passes the complimentary 1 month program) for the first 300 referrals per 6-month period, $7 for 300-700 referrals, $10 for 700-1000, and $15 for 1000-1500 referrals. Unlike most referral programs, our commissions go UP with more referrals, not down!

If anyone is interested in learning self-defense tactics On Your Own Terms, feel free to take a look at the site:

5 dollars for me finding you one closed sale? Ouch. Slap me in the face.

It's not just $5 for one sale - it's $5 (or $7/10/15, depending on your level) every month for as long as your referral is an active (and paying) member.

20% commission isn't bad - and I don't see anyone else offering that 20% every month. Recruit 5 people, make $25 a month. 50 is $250 a month. Find 200 members that stay with the program? $1000 every month - that's a payment for a Very nice vehicle, or rent for some of you!

Some tips for when you present these facts.(nice viral marketing technique by the way) Try to SELL it more. You got an orite marketing strategy, but the way it is being presented it kind of makes it look worse than it is.

"By just telling your email-list about this you can receive as much as XX in a matter of minutes...." and so on. You should also try to find a reason for them to want to do this. Something for them to look forward to. "After 10 referals you get your own T-shirt with the logo to wear at the gym".

If you are giving them 20%, try to save 5% to give back to them. They will believe it is of good-will and will create rapport with the company.

Thanks for the advice! I am used to preparing business plans, not sales pitches, lol. We are working out the kinks with the back-end, and will have the automated affiliate system up-and-running fairly soon. Let me know if you have any other tips (If you are interested, you can do a short article for my success site.)

    Need for self defense

Self defense is indeed a major area of concern today. I believe its never too late to familiarize yourself with the latest techniques and equipments. There are numerous resources out there I found defendingusa.com particularly useful.

Thanks for a heads-up. This is a great resource for 'tools of the trade', and prices are lower than buying retail.

I have always been a supporter of carrying a defensive tool or a folding blade. One that I've found particularly well suited for defensive use is the Spyderco Gunting. It can be used open, much as a traditional knife, but is also designed to be a capable defensive tool when closed.

The designer, Bram Frank, has designed a new iteration, which he calls the "Lapu Lapu Corto", which has received a great deal of acclaim. Take a look at BramFrankKnives.com if you want to see the innovative design!
