I often watch "ideas worth spreading" on ted.com. One of the key concepts is the "Rise of Collaberation" and how open source companies are going to become the norm, such as wikipedia.com.

Some of you are probably already aware of the UK boy who made a million dollars in five months by selling pixels at milliondollarhomepage.com. I want to copy that site and make mostexpensivewebspace.com, I have already bought the domain name. etc. I just need someone to donate their time to make it etc. Some who can make a selling pixels page for us.

I am open to ideas/concerns etc. Or even a totally different idea! Essentially I wish for a site/business that its members can all promote and have a vested interest to make its members money.

Surprisingly you would be surprised how many people have NOT heard of that site, especially in the USA.

It is an expansion of the original idea. Can you show me where the most expensive web site on the World Wide Web is? Maybe one that has a running total that isn't selling a "service or product."

It is easy to say "dumb idea" or "no" but as Entrepreneurs we hear it all the time. (check out millionpennyhomepage.com) He has made over $30,000 copying it too. I betcha plenty of people said "get an original idea."

I thought this would be the one place where others help foster ideas not discourage.

Kmart/Walmart/Target: all companies that "copied" each other. All surviving.

You sell advertising to one person at $100 (it would be astonishingly easy) and you have already made a profit. Think if you had a team of 5 - 10 people helping promote/advertise the site? It has the possibility to get large relatively quickly.

After all what is there to lose? ZERO!

So you want someone to do all the work.. and then give you $... Hmmm.. maybe I could buy a domain for $2.99 and do this myself? I fail to see why anyone would want to work with you on this... please explain?

Good questions.

It is a valid point. I told people pretty much exactly what my "business plan" is; if you can call it that. Most people don't tell others of their ideas, because they are scared of people copying it. I see people on this site: "I have a great plan. Can't tell you what it is but if it works you will get rich. Give me your money."

I took that "risk" knowing that maybe someone will take the risk/copy it and be greatly rewarded. I believe people have "great ideas" all the time that could make millions. But they will never materalize because many people lack the primary resources to ever get them completed: Time. Money. Knowledge. Expertise. I am hoping to collaberate with others. You see it has been proven that a crowd is quite wiser than any one individual even an "expert."

To me, the "making of the website" is relatively easy not nearly "all the work." That is why so many have failed. Easy to start. The hardest part is "selling the product" (advertising) is order to grow/maintain.

I see it as a non zero sum game. Again this is where a group of people working toward the same goal helps. Basically, I am trying to pull resources together to benefit the people/business. I provided the idea and money (bought the hosting space/domain name). Now I just need someone to build the site: an easy task. I just don't have time/expertise to build the site. If I was in someone elses shoes I would easily take the opportunity because they have essentially nothing to lose.

I am the one that stands to lose: time, money, someone copying my idea.

But oh well. It just will further validate my point.

What are you willing to give in exchange for someone developing the site? I take it that you are going to do all the marketing, accounting, and promotion? I didn't mean to come across as rude... but we all see these 'ideas' on here and wonder what people are actually looking for.... tell me more... I'm always interested in these types of ventures as long as the responsibilities and distributions are well defined in advance.

If you can find a creative angle to get the word out about your site, I think that you have a good idea. The key will be to really think about how you are going to differentiate your site among other internet sites that are somewhat similar, so as to get them to come to your site instead of others.

Once you get the traffic and the attention, advertisers usually follow shortly thereafter.

To me this is sort of a "the people" idea/project. I am always open to comments/suggestions. I don't have much to give in exchange for developing the site. I am poor thanks to my higher education coupled with my underfunded upbringing. I typed "pixel template" into Google and the number one search was for a guy selling the same template as "million dollar pixel" for $25. Maybe I should ask people for $50-$100 and tell people that after I sell the first 10 $100 spaces of advertising, I would give them half of those 10 (50*10) for a total of $500. A pretty good rate of return.

What do you (or anyone) else think would be a good "exchange"?

It could also be a 50/50 split. Unless the two "members" decided it would be wise to maybe "hire" another member to help get the word out about the site. Then it would be 33/33/33.

It would be essentially all "open source." A running total of the amount of money raised would be on the front page of the site. If you go to milliondollarhomepage.com you would know pretty much exactly what a "million dollars in pixels" looks like so it would be easy for everyone to keep track etc. The logistics could be worked out among partners etc. The expenses of the site are very low. Just web hosting which is what $20-30 a month, which could easily come out of the fund raised from selling the advertisements or i would gladly pay if the site was "working."

The biggest obstacle to me as someone mentioned would be getting the word out. Once people see other people had bought advertising. Others will follow suit. The momentum ultimately builds on itself after awhile. "Promotion" of the website would be telling "my/our" story to the local media. "Minneapolis man helps create website to help eliminate debt etc," also posting a link to the website on other sites and blogs, in comments of online articles, maybe even auctioning off some pixels on Ebay for the first few ones to get the ball rolling and the word out. Other ideas could be discussed.

Jeff Bezos gave a speech on ted.com about how the internet is not like the bust of the "gold mine" but more like the development of "electricity." The internet is still young. It still has numerous opportunities for entrance. The "upslide" will probably last another 20-40 years before it "levels out."

With the internet we have to try and stop thinking in traditional models. No more what is your P&L, what is your advertising budget for the years, etc.

I/we would come home from "work" and advertise the site: because I/we would get money for every "sell." To me it would not really be "working." It would be a "side project." I already read numerous forums and blogs. Now I would just put a link to it and hopefully let word of mouth advertising take a part. Again: the other members/partners could/would do the same thing helping to create a "buzz."

Everything would be about honesty. Honesty with the advertisers, media, partners. Ideas about honesty: All the members could have access to the "login" site of the host. The members could have MSN and chat to talk about ideas/concepts. I virtual board room.

Any suggestions?
