I know I would definitely prefer to earn the money myself and hold the ownership, but with the right partner, it's worth it to give up equity if you can get another value out of it like a distribution partner.
But some other people always want to get investors and spend other peoples' money instead of their own.
I dont think your question is that simple. If the sum required to start is an amount that can be saved in a reasonable amount of time, then of course it may well be better to save and go it on your own.
However if the amount is beond your reach you may have no choice other than to look for an investor.
But in some cases an investor can bring much more than just money to the table and so a potential partnering can be the best route.
Yeah I agree Robert, a good example of this is on shark tank when you see a savvy entrepreneur choose to partner with someone like Damian in order to get his FUBU distribution network.
