I want a piece of a monpoly, and I need some partners!

    Hey everyone,

It had me thinking the other day that sites like DrudgeReport, DrudgeRetort, and one or two others get tens of millions of hits per day with very little investment and very little work. The sites are very easy to maintain as far as i can see and all they revolve around are news stories. They list the stories that are eye-popping, catchy, and attention grabbing to which a toddler could do. Fortunately, the entry to such a market is not a problem.

Here are the stats for a low news day for DrudgeReport.com:
24,175,841 hits in past 24 hours. 24 million for a simple site with no userbase, no monthly fee, and a terrible design which does make thing simple. See, I figured that the reason why people are using Twitter, Facebook, and Drudgereport is because they want things in life simplified.

Anywho, I don't have a business plan because I believe it would be a waste of time for such a simplistic project. Regardless, I don't see any reason why a new site into this market offering the same service but with a little something new couldn't compete and generate some of the traffic they are.

The initial investment should be simple. Domain name, thats it. I have plenty of hosting.

I am looking for one or two partners to help me spread the word of this potential site, update stories with me, and help break into this market. Equity ownership and profits will be offered.

Send me a PM or email me at Cameron @ zergmoney.com

I hope you realize like it takes years for some of these companies to even get traction and in the case of twitter, it was an accidental side business that became popular enough that warrant its own company. Just because something is simple doesn't make it easy to grow or gain traffic. While I can agree to some degree its not a bad business model, it can have growing pains getting where you're hoping to go.

You make it all sound simple and easy... which it's not. Goodluck anyways!

Here in the Netherlands, we have a very peculiar situation. There is only one 'blog' which is popular AT ALL. This is called GeenStijl (NoStyle), which is a sarcastic news reporting website.

Everything else fails because people here are somehow not that into blogs etc. Weird. But anyway, GeenStijl only became popular after years and years of hard work. And that was in a non-existing market a few years back.

I would also use caution in thinking that it is easy to grab news stories etc. Plus there are already services like Reddit, which are similar and rely more on users to add content (which is a much more favorable business model if you ask me).

Anyway, think out the wrinkles and don't let my or anyone else's doubt hold you back. The best things were invented while no-one else believed in them!
