Gluten-Free Foods Industry Set to Boom

I keep hearing about gluten-free foods. I know a couple people who have celiacs disease which means you cant eat wheat. This disease was once considered rare but now is being diagnosed more and more. This specialty foods industry is set to boom in the next few years, almost doubling in sales. Just do a google search, there is a lot of reports on it. How could i get involved in the industry? Anyone doing any work in this industry? I was thinking maybe open a cafe, or wholesale distribution. I've heard this could be a new fad in the next few years, almost like vegetarian food. Any ideas, comments? Thanks!

its mostly bullshit and besides the supermarkets will just provide gluten free products if it does boom. vegetarianism is going to be the food boom in the next 50 years with rising population and climate change awareness.

I have had celiac for the past 20 years. The market is already exposed to a lot of gluten free foods due to abit of a fad a few years ago.

The issue currently with gluten free foods are that they arnt just gluten free they are yeast free sugar free dairy free taste free they end up tasting like cardboard although they taste a lot better now then what they did.

Personally I don’t believe that it would be to viable setting up as a wholesaler as there are already so many out their.

Where I believe you can make money is by make restaurants serve gluten free food and then set up a website not just for gluten free but people with all types of allergies.

Restaurants don’t realise that by changing a few ingredients they have expanded their target market immensely.

Up until one year ago I had never bought a kebab until a kebab shop started the first gluten free kebabs. Over a year I must of spent well over a grand their. Just by them simply provide gluten free bread they have made thousands more.
Now if you could work out a way to inform restaurants of doing this and you could make some money of the side then you would be laughing.

Also be aware that their has been a vaccine created for celiac that is being tested at the moment. I can only imagine what would happen to the gluten free industry once this is created.
