Secret,, Do you have any experience in the industry? I have contacts in the U.S. I'm not sure what their interest would be in overseas ventures. Key to success is managment and guide lines when it comes to your industry. If you have experience (substantial and confirmed) then you have a good shot with U.S. venture capitalist right now.

U.S. economy is bad. World economy is bad. Bad times mean sex and beer sales go up. Venture Capital groups here have begun buying up clubs and investing. Good business plan and pitch, you could walk away the funds you need quickly. Let me know if I can be of any assistance with a U.S. pitch.

    Enjoy Life,
    Nick

Hey Smokey,, Even if his answer was "every bit helps", the amount of money needed to accomplish this would be in the millions. So the amount you have available would most likely not return much to you. Not worth the time it would take.

I have a few friends in Colorado. If that is where you are located then I can get you some more local investment opportunities. Something you can stay a little more on top of. PM me.

    Enjoy Life,
    Nick

Interesting concept, but I'm looking at an existing business that is currently running in Las Vegas, Nv. Liquor, Cabaret, and Gambling license, 2.2acres of property in the Vegas redevelopment district (can be used for highrise), and a pretty good price (11mil).

I am not sure what the market in Denmark is for this type of business, but things are definitely picking up here. These clubs are even showing up on Nasdaq for more 'legitimate' investment opportunities. Good luck with your project, however. It is a very lucrative business, if built right from the start.

Paul,, Is it picking up? Last I heard, sales were still down, smaller venues were closing and trump's casino is filing for bankruptcy again. Market seems to still be going down :/

I know the market in Austria is doing well and going up. Not sure how though.

Recent market reports have been showing a slow rise in the economic sectors that most affect the adult entertainment / nightclub industry. The reason that there are so many investors looking into this sector right now is because the clubs and venues are being sold for 1/2 or a 1/3 of what they went for 3-4 years ago. In many cases, running businesses are being sold (with all equipment, staff, etc) for 10%-20% higher than the cost of the property, meaning a potential savings in the millions for a discerning investor. Liquor, Cabaret, and Adult Entertainment licenses are difficult (if not impossible) to get for new venues, and finding venues for sale with these licenses already available (or those that are grandfathered-in) may add $400k-$2mil to the price when you put it back on the market. Current owners are having to liquidate these 'pet projects' to keep their other failing businesses afloat.

Once the economy starts picking back up, the value of these venues will return closer to what they were in previous years. The good thing for those getting in while the price is low, is that these businesses, along with the tobacco and alcohol industries continue to run even while all other industries are crashing around them. Statistics have shown that customers continue drinking, smoking, etc even while they may be culling other 'unnecessary' habits from their day-to-day lives. Economic hardship leads to more depressed and unhappy people, which often will turn to the occasional 'night on the town' to alleviate the burden of their emotions (even if just for a short while).

Overall, there is still money to be made in this industry. The key is to having the money available to purchase the venues, and keeping staff in place that can run them efficiently. Throw in some effective and creative marketing, cut down any unnecessary expenses in the budget, and have fun with what you do. This industry is definitely not for everyone, but it can be a great and enjoyable investment for the right individual.

Great response. I'm in the adult entertainment business and in the process of starting a new bar. I understand very well that tobacco and alocohol are doing well. I've said it before, the two things that will always sell and sell hard in a bad economy are sex and alcohol. (drugs too but we'll stop with the others)

I understand that venues are selling at discounted prices but I have not seen one report that shows gambling is rising. When I made my comment, that is what I was referring to. The entertainment portion of it, I couldnt agree with you more. It is doing well and continues to grow strong right now.

As for it being enjoyable, some times lol I dont know if you are in the business but right now it's actually really stressfull. Bad economic times are good for business overall but bad for employees. Theft is high, management is reliable but I'm still weary. Right now it is far from enjoyable lol

    Enjoy Life,
    Nick

Nick- I know what you mean about it being stressful. At this point in the economic downturn, owning a business will stress out even the strongest individuals!

Gambling revenues have dropped, and are still staying fairly low. The casinos are having trouble turning as large a profit as in previous years, but are also doing what they can to make what money they do bring in go further. I don't see the gambling industry coming out of the hole they're in until we see significant changes in our economy (change for the better, btw).
