    Gaming Community Network Start Up

    I'm starting a gaming community network with the focus of helping out players perform better on games. For example, a very popular game called Call of Duty, it's fairly well known. I want to help players perform better when playing because there are times where this game can be extremely frustrating especially in multiplayer, so the idea is to create a system where players can submit their load-out that gives them success when playing ,such as what guns they were using, perks and strategies. This of course can be used on a wide variety of games, like Minecraft, League of Legends, Skyrim, and Dragons Nest, which is the main reason I want to create a network with a strong community.

    There are some problems that I'm facing. I am not a good programmer and I suck at art. So creating an original website and forums is what is holding me back. I plan on managing the website with WordPress because I have a lot of experience with WordPress. I will be using the Vanilla Forums software for the forums. That's what I have so planned so far, oh and of course the games I will be covering when I get started.

    This being said, I need a lot of help to get this started. I cannot promise any money at the begging. I am a college student and I have a lot of expenses as it is. If you are interested in joining the project please let me know.

    Here are some ways to contact me, through a reply or private message.
    Thank you,

    Francisco.

    Hi Francisco,

    Sounds like a cool idea but I think you will have some trouble getting the project off the ground due to all the fierce competition in the gaming information industry. There are already many many established gaming content sites just like the one you have described. Another idea that maybe a better approach in the beginning is to get your own YouTube channel. Make lots and lots of awesome video game content. Promote like crazy and interact with your fans constantly. Start earning money from YouTube by signing up for there ad program. Once you get well known and earn some money then you could think about coming out with your own site. Just a thought. Either way best of luck and when you do get your site up remember to put it into the review site part of the forum so the community can give you some good feedback.

    Hey bud,

    You're idea is very common. However, it's still very accomplishable. Few tips: Don't use wordpress, and don't use that forum software you mentioned. If you want anyone to take you serious, you need to offer the best software. Vbulletin and IPB are top of the line forum software. They are expensive, but in the end it's well worth it. They have clean/professional looks, and you can get customized skins anywhere you go.

    Another tip. If you are "JUST" starting out...I recommend you take a look here. VBTEAM.INFO

    They specialise in Vbulletin software and offer it "cracked" for free, and they offer premium themes. They have many gaming themes that you might find suitable. With the hot release of skyrim, you are bound to find a theme that matches your likings.

    WORDPRESS = NO!

    As easy and functional wordpress may be... It will not hold. They have a shit security framework, and offer "simple" plugins.

    You don't need to spend 1k on a professional website. I suggest checking out Freelancer.com and post a "Free" ad. Mention you need a site for a gaming community. They have people from all over the world who will offer their services. I've used them, and if you are lucky, you can find people that will charge $2-6/hr. (Indians mostly. lol)

    But uhm...

    Yeah... haha. I know quite a bit about this, as i almost started a Gaming Lan Center, and i also almost started a Video Game Tournament site.

    If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
