Catching up with the "Solar Wave"

First of all let me talk a little about myself and what brings me to post here.

I'm young I am only 19 years old and since I was a kid I have always looked for innovative ways of making money. Ideas always come to my mind and they range from small projects to huge ones, but due to my age many persons I've talked to don't really want to listen to my ventures. One of my biggest problems is that most of the time I start something and talk to people about it and then I see how hard it is to get support from others, I just demotivate and stop my plan. At my young age this has happened a couple of times with projects that where later figured out by others and turned to be profitable. This idea or business venture I plan on starting today is not unique and it has hit a couple of markets making companies a couple million bucks in profit already and it involves the solar wave.

I am going to college in Arizona and working at a solar company. This company is good and reputable, but they haven't seen much growth and their sales seem to increase very few on a yearly basis. This is because the marketing they use is an old strategy that works, but doesn't grow much. I mean other than marketing everything this company is doing is pretty great. The payment options they offer to homeowners is good and their customer service is also excellent. Yet, the the products are way overpriced by this companies.

Along this company many others have surfaced in arizona in the past 2-3 years and most follow the same exact model, and they all are making money from it.

Now what I want to do is expand this solar wave into other states and implement new marketing techniques to reach more people, and taking in consideration that solar energy is dropping in price pretty fast, the customer base will increase exponentially in the coming 5 years, something that hasn't happened in the past 40 years.

I know that starting a solar business is not easy or cheap and it requires a considerable amount of money. Money which I don't have since I have only been working a couple of months and I'm still a poor college student. Being honest I still have not yet figured out a budget to start this business because I don't know if anyone would be interested in it. Now this is not a post saying that if you invest X amount of dollars you will get X times 150% back in 6 months.

I'm looking for business partners that want to participate in the business and be in it for the long run. What I have to offer is the opportunity to explore a field that is almost virgin and if this works out I'm sure the business will become profitable within 2 years. I have contacts with manufacturing companies, with certified contractors that install this systems, and I know how to build a customer base through programs that will help this company grow faster than others that are in business already.

Arizona is one of the states that has more solar companies around, and not even .5% of the population has been reached.

If this business idea spikes someone's interest I'm sure we could expand into other states. And we could realistically offer this products at a 25% discount from the other companies that are around in Arizona.

I haven't made a specific budget for this project, but I am estimating that an initial investment of $250k can start this off. It may be a little off, but I will only figure out the numbers if someone is interested in this.

I know this is a long post, but I really appreciate you reading this far.
Thanks and have a great business year.

if you are already working at a solar company why dont you pitch a new marketing strategy to your president?

That is something I looked at, and even made some numbers for different marketing strategies, but I just feel this company is overcharging customerquite a bit. They could easily charge people 25% less than what they are and still run a profitable and growing company. Plus I feel this company could be a little more honest with its clients in regards about efficiency and the payoff time of this systems.
