Blog franchising idea

I have this idea.Blog franchising.

Briefly explained the model is simple. There is a main blog in English, which is already very popular ( preferably ) and basically the franchisiers translate the content into their languages and publish it in their blog which is branded as the blog of the franchiser but just in other language. The franchisee will get most of the income, sharing a small part for the franchiser. Basically it will be very easy for the franchisees because they will not loose any time to create content. For the franchiser it will be an excellent opportunity for additional income without extra efforts.

What do you think ? Does any of you have a popular blog ? And is willing to experiment?

Interesting. I guess duplicate content wouldn't be a problem due to different languages? Or would it?

I guess it would not be a problem because it will be in different languages and when a text is translated it is never 100% the same and the sites will be able to link each other because they will be not only on relevant themes but identical.

I think it will be exellent opportunity for a blog owner to cover audience which he/she would never be able to cover. Just imagine.....

Also these blogs will benefit form the publicity if the idea is successful and the story covered by other blogs.

A couple ideas for thought--I speak another language and have translated too. Sometimes, things don't translate. For instance, if a person says "I'm just pulling your leg" other cultures get a blank look. Sometimes, I would get the blank look at their translation. Like to say "I'm sorry", the literal translation was "Please punish"

Also, cultural values and differences may get different reception. When I've been told jokes that were translated from other languages, the people of that culture would laugh and laugh and I didn't get it. When a punch line about "inflating the tires on trains" is hysterically funny...it just doesn't work for me.

Examine the cultures and how prevalent the themes are. Some themes are universal, some aren't. Love is universal, but expressed different depending where you are. Some countries, you can't kiss in public, some others it doesn't matter. Some countries, you will get arrested for not being clothed, Other countries has thousands of people posing nude for a photographer. Are people in the country fighting in a war? Can people understand the issues of the other cultures?

One other thought--There were times when I was translating unofficially and a person was saying just ridiculous things and I would not translate what they were saying, but they didn't know that. Usually it was a joke. (Have you seen My Big Fat Greek Weeding?) How will you know that they are translating correctly if you don't speak the language?

Im not sure I understand..are you looking to franchise theme blogs or just creating a theme blog and releasing it in different languages.

Both ideas are good.
What we did actually with one of our projects (Blogyx.com) we added an additional main blog platform language, based on the visit volume from a particular country and it has worked in our advantage.

So the need for a competent translator would be key for this content franchising. In reality, his might very well be feasible since you would only need a handful of people to cover each language. 1-3 languages per person, depending on how many target countries you have is possib;le. If youre multi-lingual, youre saving some money right there.
