Are there any trusted government grants out there?

I saw many government grant offers online. Are there any legitimate companies out there that would actually offer government grants? Instead of taking people's money?

Are you in Canada or US? In Canada, government grants are limited. The ones I am aware of are specifically geared towards youth, arts, new technology or aboriginal communities. Visit regionalbusiness.ca(>>FAQ>>What financing options are available...). The website isn't great, but a new one will be launched in early 2009.

The thing here is that they provide shortcuts and expenses by providing step by step instructions, automatic filling forms, etc... that will get you grants in no time. When I first started, I easily spent around 8 months, researching, going through lots and lots of websites, filling complicated forms etc... It was frustrating :S

Anyway, try to search at Grants.gov, and if you have any question I will be glad to help you.

Of course there are. Just take a look at what the government has to offer small business at The Small Business finance Center

100% of those are fake and scams. There are no grants for small businesses. There was a warning put out about this on the news all over. They stole millions of dollars from people.

Free grants is what I am talking about by the way.

Quoting two investment experts on msnbc discussing grants for small business:

Ken Yancey, CEO of SCORE "I've been doing this for 16 yrs and never met anyone that got a grant."

Phil Town, bestselling investing author, "...must be 20-30 websites about U.S. grants. I think they're all scams."

This is what I've been advising entrepreneurs for years...there are no grants for small biz start ups or for-profit small businesses. Stop chasing those non existent grants.
