    Angel / Private investor needed

Small Hungarian company, Novyon Events is looking for angel and/or private investor, to increase. Our base field is web application development based on Java and XML/XSL technologies. But our main goal is to fill an existing hole in the rpg industry, to connect offline rpg with online players.

We have set a clear path, how to achive this, and we have done a survey asking players and game masters about their oppinions on our plans. The result shows that there is a need for 21st century tools in offline gaming. We can send you the diagrams if you request it.

So far we have built our own tool, to enable us doing any website in less than a week be it a simple blog or a complex insurance calculator/purchaser site. The technology is proved, it's predecessor - built by the same team, but at another company - is working under many brokerage sites in Hungary with success. So to achieve our main goal, we can build websites for anyone and make income as a side project.

Also we have a board game planned and printed inhouse. We're still in closed testing phase, but in mid-autumn we'll release it to Hungarian gaming clubs as an open test, and will release it as a downloadable print-and-play version internationally. Also there will be a contest for Hungarian writers to create a background for the game with the help already known writers, and we would like to do the same for international promoting.

We are seeking money for growing our company with 3 person two programmers we have worked with before, and another for being responsible for CRM. Also we would like to stabilize the company for 3 years. By that time the game can be released as a pay-for version, and we can finish the second phase of plans regarding the connection of offline and online players. We would like to organize a tour in Hungary promoting the game, and after the first year we will organize tournaments. Also we would like to appear on some gaming exhibition/conference to promote the game to publishers.

    Speaking in numbers:
    1. If we can hire the 3 person we can start offering website building services, especially to small businnesses, based on proved technology
    2. The closed beta of the game can be done in 2 months, by then we'll have an event for closing the contest, and can start open beta testing in local clubs, and providing downloadable version to anyone
    3. The promotion of the game can be started with the open beta on european gaming events and online gaming forums.

We need a sum of 500.000 USD for 3 years of development. We will be able to make other revenues by selling both our website building expertise, and the game. We can offer 30% of the companies share in return, which we'll try to buy back after 3 years.

    Thanks,

We are still looking for serious offers and advices on where / how to raise that much money. Tomorrow will be able to deploy a new service to CAP and we are also progressing with the game.

I will be needing a couple java scripts for my rpg game. How much do you charge per hour, or do you not do custom projects?

We do custom projects of course. Charge depends on the nature of code to be done. PM me some more details what do you need, when do you need it, and I'm sure we can make a deal.

The update of our site is cancelled, due to other responsibilities. We have been contacted by some investors already, so we have updated our business plan.

Just in case anyone else is interested in our progress.

This time scam again... How can somebody find serious investors, and filter out those who just scam your money in advance for nothing?

We have rejected 3 offers in one week, two of them being quite unprofessional, and third we found today on google searching for scams.

I dont think anyone actually finds investors through forums.

You should use your network. Get the word out that you're looking for investors. Host a presentation for local investors, explaining them your business plan, etc.

Yes... But the situation is, that here in Hungary it's impossible to find anyone that would be willing to talking to you if you mention software development or game development. And it's not because of the recession, but it's a general thing... Only those who can find foreign funds can evolve or even survive...

I have showed what we have achieved so far to many, and most of them get excited about our ideas, but when it comes to money, no-one says a word, no-one has contacts, nothing...

I have learned here that it works otherwise abroad... Maybe we should move there...

I really know how that feels, because I am a game developer in canada. Its hard to find anyone even willing to invest in the industry. Most say things like, I love your ideas but...

I find it really annoying that things end in a but or the people ask to try and take over most the company as if game developers are gullable idiots.

just to keep this thread updated, as personal journal... I were to a few job interviews in the last weeks to find other ways of funding... the best offer I got for 10 years of experience working for the biggest hungarian brokerage sites was US$ 5038... per year... for a job where old codes must be cleaned up and optimized... I already know what that means...

the worst is, I still don't know whether to take the job or not...
