AHA! Someone's tapped into the next big thing in SCM (well what's been brewing for about 6 years now).

Biggest barrier to entry and widespread usage: costs per tag.

Some predict that RFID will not gain widespread acceptance as an alternative or supplement to traditional barcodes until the costs come down to about $.10 per tag. So in the meantime, folks are chasing down UID and 2D codes.

Should be interesting.

way to go! that's some killer analysis

sounds like you know your way around these things

my first startup sold merchandising solutions to large grocery retailers

we had this cardboard clip that checkout personnel would fasten to a number of plastic bags (usually 3) to make them easier ta carry, and so that the groceries wouldn't fall out of the bag when in the car

the customer would then take the clip off, unfold it and find a whole bunch of coupons etc... it's like a shop-a-docket

anyway, there's a stroll down memory lane :-)

p.s. I'm totally hot on retail tech. I really wanna start the mall 2.0 meme

pitch me!!!!!!!!!!! hahah

I heard Walmart is going to be using that on all merchandise for easier integration in the shipping/receiving dept. But that was just by word of mouth, so I have no proof.
