    technology - concern for investors?

    Hi,

I am starting to work on an idea. Two technology options to choose from:

    ASP.NET - I have good experience in ASP.NET
Ruby on Rails - will have to go through a learning curve.

Despite the free ide and cheaper hosting costs of ruby on rails, I am inclined towards asp.net so as to avoid spending time in learning ruby. my concern is that if I go for (seed) funding at some stage, can the cost associated with asp.net play on investor's mind? Do investors really bother about the minor cost differences caused by technology being used?

Your logic makes no sense to me. The "technology" itself is the same, only the source code used to code makes a difference. php by far is more common and easier to find coders for scaling purposes but if you had to go with one of the two above, I would shoot for ruby on rails. That said, investors may look at how difficult it can be to scale the company in terms of finding coders that can work on the project as opposed to what code is being used. As long as the coding structure can scale itself, this has much less emphasis.

I don't think investors will care one way or the other how you tackle the problem, as long as you can prove that you can tackle the problem.

That being said I've been learning RoR for awhile and it looks very promising for rapid application development, but clearly lacks for extremely specific situations. ASP.NET lacks in almost all facts as far as I'm concerned, but thats personal bias
