Social networking for plastic & cosmetic surgery!

Hi everybody,

I've been working on a project www.FixorNot.com for a while now and I've made little progress. I am looking for a few partners to help put some energy and productivity back into my project.

This is what FixorNot.com is about:

FixorNot.com will be an online social networking community for plastic & cosmetic surgery seekers ( or anybody else who wants to improve their personal apperances) to make better decision through social networking and the Fix or Not voting.

When FixorNot.com is completed, I invision FixorNot.com to be a place for people who want to improve their physical apperances via plastic/cosmetic surgery, or other theraphy such as diet, exercise, new hair style, etc to share their problems, post their before/after picture and video, and to find other people members to make friends for support ( Example: after surgery plastic surgery member can login into fixornot.com and get support from their friends, share their new picture, etc). Members can also seek Question & Answers, etc.

And most importantly, every member page will have the Fix or Not voting options. With this feature, users are able to upload photos and video, select a problem/procedure, write a short description about the problem/procedure, and have other members vote and recommend a fix as well.

Here are the demo:

1. Fix or Not voting: www.FixorNot.com
2. Members page: www.members.FixorNot.com ( currently working on it)

Please let me know if you're interested to become partner, as I would greatly appreciate your expertise/contribution into this project through completion.

Thank You for your time

While I am against plastic surgery in most cases because I think it is unnecessary I am all for other aesthetic improvements such as exercise and the like. In essence this would be supporting my views and therefore this does not create a moral issue for me.

I think this is a very interesting and creative idea and I would very much like to know more about this, in great detail if possible via pm, and then we can discuss the rest later if things work out well from there.

Theres all of these social networking people saying "I want to make the next myspace or facebook" however the problem is people aren't adapting that idea and taking it away from the clogged market of social networking sites by mixing it up with a specific purpose, and the purpose of yours...I think is unique and could, if done right, and if it can get enough peoples attention, could be quite successful.

The website is no facebook in regards to its design but its not as necessary with this, and there is always time to improve.

Let me know.

well...it's not really an issue of what i think, or what I've personally experienced with studentface.com.au, but rather what the facts are

it's well documented that commercially sucessful SN plays are in the business of migrating existing offline communities into an online environment (i.e. band fans, school friends, work buddies)

in other words - Offline behavior drives online usage

this means that the success factor for SN plays is the ability to; "provide re-existing offline community with a complementary online service"

surgery patients don't ban together offline, which means there is no prima facie reason for why they'd band together online

but really...who cares about facts...lets listen in on Paint and his fact altering insights

Ok here is my logic,

There are tenth of millions of people seeking/plastic surgery worldwide. In america alone is 16 billions dollars ( more than triple the beauty product sold in supermarket shelf).

Of these millions of people who are facing this difficulty and oppertunity to improve their apperances, they need a medium to communicate, to network, and to share knowledge and idea with their peers. The overall goal of FixorNot.com is to help plastic/cosmetic surgery seeker make a better decision prior surgery and to have social support after surgery.

If you were in the position to have "nose surgery". Would you considering going to a place like Myspace but for plastic and cosmetic surgery? You could search for members who wants "nose surgery" and maybe some of them has had the surgery already. Here you can seek for Question and Answers. You could also make friends inorder to have a support network to help you through your recovery phase. ( I think it would be very supportive for person recovering after surgery to go FixorNot and to share their recovery experiences with the friends they have made on FixorNot inorder to help those who are planning on having "nose surgery" to know what to expect. Plus, they could also get words of comfort and support from their friend list.

Logic: I would rather talk to 20 peoples who has had nose surgery than to google up a surgeon website and read a short description about nose surgery. And beside, people will tell you as they see it. Doctor may alter the view but the people will tell you base on their experiences.

Is plastic/cosmetic surgery a shame? With TV show like the "SWAN" and MTV "Fix my face", and the report of actor/actress having plastic surgery is all over the news. Plastic/cosmetic surgery isn't going under the rug. Millions and more millions of people are seeking plastic surgery. ( you may view the statitic on www.plasticsurgery.org ) ... With a society focus on good looks, and billions dollars company selling their next stylest fashion, and the thousands of plastic surgery surgeon who spend hundreds thousands tuition to become surgeon isn't going to sweep plastic/cosmetic surgery under the rug. Plastic/cosmetic surgery is here to stay and the rich and powerful are feuling the engine right now and they won't stop because they have too much too lose and too much invested. I believe within the next 10 years, plastic surgery will be cheaper and people will use it like it was beauty product from the store shelf. Where else will it go? inorder for the market to survive surgeon want more users and cheaper and more affordable is only way to evolve. I think that is just common sense.

There is market for this and do you want to be the first?

Thank You
James Vo

I appreciate what you're saying, but it doesn't matter what your logic tells you as you're afflicted with confirmation bias

James you need to look for data such as LSVP's analysis and change your thinking

Your target market isn't the patients, it's the doctors

Listen carefully to what jeremy is talking about
