Seeking Capital - Looking for a safe investment?

PSIPRO, I'd love your sloth generic form response on this, to see if I'm selling myself okay.

------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the project/vision in question?

It's the next big social network! It integrates features from all the popular social networks currently out there, whilst providing a new/fresh place to stay connected and meet new people online who share common interests. Whether you're a professional who wants to network within a company, or just a regular Joe who wants to sign on in the morning, with coffee in hand, to find out the news for the day.

As an online community, we can take successful ideas/concepts and join them together! Like Yahoo Answers/ Youtube / Flickr / eBay etc... That's of course the vision.

What makes this different from current social networks?

The revolutionary redesign of the Control Panel! It creates a "unique only to OUR network", but user-friendly, addictive, interactive approach to staying connected.

How does the project make money?

As with any online venture, AD's will be a big factor in generating revenue. We could also have membership fees to get rid of the Ad's and give them special access/features. The key is keeping members coming back, because ultimately it is the traffic of the site, that will determine the fiscal success of this operation.

So if you've got $10K portfolio you're looking to invest in long-term opportunities, I invite you to the prospect of having this project be a part of the diversification. This is a business loan/investment that offers real potential.

Just putting some figures out there, and these can totally be negotiated, changed etc... these are just to get the discussions started...

To keep it simple, let's look at a 12-24 month loan of $1000. If we target for 10-15% APY, that's a monthly payment of between $45 - $95 a month.

We can start discussing from there and see what interests you.

What's the key to a successful investment?

A Diversified Portfolio! You've heard of the saying "don't put all of your eggs in one basket"? Well, here's hoping that our basket be the right place for one of your eggs!

Probably not the most interesting way to start this thread but it at least offers the idea that I've thought this out.

I've been reading some reviews about online-lending like Lending Tree or Prosper. The default rate is pretty high, and 99% of the story's are very similar. (I need to pay off my credit card debt etc...) But the thing about those stories, is that they don't offer any real confidence that their situation is going to change. Sure you lend them money and they pay off their CC debt... but now their debt is with you, and you hope they will pay you back with interest.

Well I'm that same boat. I've made a few mistakes, but it's how you learn from them and progress. And that's why, although there's always risk, I offer you an investment you can track and follow.

If any of this seems interesting to you, remember I'm available 24/7 via email via my BB.

I'm 21 years old, I have an AAS in Business Administration from Heald College here in the USA. I'm online virtually all-day to chat, and you'll get regular updates and will see the site as it progresses into the next huge thing!

I've tried to put the general concept into words, but if you would still like more information, I have several PowerPoint presentations to illustrate the idea. Again, just looking for capital, although the possibility of partnership is also here too. Please PM me or email me for more information.

If you are not interested or unable but you know someone who might be, please forward this message to them!

Doesn't need it, but since you asked for it

This is a form letter meant to help you improve your post and thereby improve your response. Please keep in mind that many posts, probably just like this one come through here every day asking for money or business partners. This quick form is for others to fill in and is meant to allow people to identify areas that posts commonly lack. This form is meant mostly to point out the flaws in the post, not to award credit for what is done right. Please don't take it personally.

How to read this:
  • [ ] This is not a box I think applies to you
  • [x] This is something that I think applies to you.

I think your idea...
  • [x] Is good
  • [ ] Is bad
  • [ ] Not well articulated
  • [x] Is to generic, you need more of a niche market
  • [ ] Has been done and hasn't succeeded (Please see post description section)
  • [x] Has been done and worked, so expect competition
Ideas come and go, and do not let anyone discourage you from continuing your idea despite what it said here. However if your idea is not received well it would be foolish to not follow up (civilly please) and ask for suggestions.

I think this post..
  • [ ] IS YELLING AT ME.
  • [ ] Lacks significant detail
  • [ ] Is not selling your idea well
  • [ ] Is not selling you, as a business partner well
  • [ ] Is hard to read (spelling errors, grammar, l33t speak)
  • [ ] Is asking for a lot of money
  • [ ] Smells like a Nigerian scam
  • [ ] Doesn't specific if your looking for VC, Partner, equity partner
These items are discussed more in a later section. If they are just a quick check box for your reading convenience. Keep in mind everyone who comes through this forum thinks their idea is the next million dollar idea. It may be but you will need to convince the readers.

I think your business proposition...
  • [ ] Is missing a business plan
  • [ ] Is missing market research (and a plan to do so)
  • [ ] Is making outrageous claims
  • [ ] Is making claims that violate the laws of physics/nature/chemistry/common sense (its been done before)
You need to have a good description of your business in your post. People are more likely to PM you if you have details to let them know your

idea is something they would be interested in. Oh and make sure what your claiming is possible because being called out on such a blatant error is embarrassing.

I think this post's comments with regards to you....
  • [ ] Are non-existent
  • [ ] Provides no past business experience
  • [ ] Provides no past niche experience
  • [ ] Provides no indication of being able to meet in real life (mostly important if your asking for large sums of money)
  • [ ] Provides little to no details about your skills.
If your going to attract a partner selling yourself is as important as selling your idea. Why can we trust you? What do you bring to the table?

Extra Comments:

In your opening suggestion, I wouldn't talk about your short failings to much, if your perspective investor is serous he will inquire after you have hooked him. I would also not split the "What's the key to a successful investment?" and "How does the project make money?" sections up, when I was reading this I couldn't get a grasp of what you were talking about. I started thinking you were trying to make a social networking / lending site but I think your just looking for a social networking site.

Other then that your post looks good to me, but my first question if I was considering investing would be... what would make you unique. You say things like "we can take successful ideas/concepts and join them together" and "he revolutionary redesign of the Control Panel! It creates a "unique only to OUR network" ". I would pressure you to tell me why you over Facebook. Its going to be a hard fight to dislodge even 0.01% of a marketshare from FB. Not saying it can't be done, but it will be hard and as a potential investor I want to know that you know that, and that you have a plan.

Thanks for the post. I was hoping to see all blank and I did! YAY!

Well you see Brian, competition is great. It's the heart of all that is being an Entrepreneur. How can I sell my product to this person vs the other guy. And the saying is true, "When companies compete, YOU win!"

As a guy with a business idea, I really don't want to say "here's a great idea!" and then have someone say "oh that's not going to work"... and then turn around and do it himself and make lots of money. -- or at least that's the only major thing I'm afraid of.

I mean I hope I got people interested, enough so that they would PM me for a more personal chat about the idea. That was my goal. Tell people about the project, but not how it works specifically.

I've edited the post like you suggested. About the lending, I just wanted to illustrate the difference between investing in loan on lending club, vs with this business idea. It's much more tangible here.

But yes, it's a social network, and the niche? Well unlike Facebook, where it's just people talking with people, this project is more content related. Like if you want to discuss the latest news, or meet people who like news as much as you do, then you go to the news section. With the "new control panel" so to speak, you have many more options available to you, but the focus is on connecting with people.

Hey PSI, can I send you the PPT? Maybe I'm just wording it wrong... I dunno.

Still looking for funding. Please PM me or email me if you are interested.

But to further add, the above description is the long-term vision. First we would start with a "niche" audience, a target audience if you will. The first we will want to start with would be making money online.

1. The economy is in the poops and people are looking for quick ways to make money.
2. Making money online is a subject that will keep members returning (affiliates / discussions / networking)
3. Proven traffic as seen with competitors.
4. Cash prizes / Cleaner design / User-friendly and redesigned Control Panel should attract more people and retain current members.

--- Looking for anywhere from $1000 - $5000 to start up. The basic team is assembled, web-design/developer, webmaster, SEO/Marketing etc... We just need a business loan to get this started correctly!

We can arrange periodic conference calls between the team members and investors if need be. I've got PowerPoint Presentations available, and numerous ways to get in, and stay in contact with me.

If you have a friend, or know someone online who might be interested in a loan for this project, please let them know that I'm interested in getting in touch with them, or have them contact me.

Thanks, and I'm available anytime.

Richard

Don't worry about it. I've come to realize that this really isn't the right audience. There are a few, but that is why bumping becomes necessary.

Good Luck!
