    New WebHost

Ok I know this is not the most original of ideas and I am certain it is something many of us have tried to achive and failed, yes it is a highly saturated market and most new startups stand no chance.

I am not saying I have a USP for this webhost or anything but I do belive most faliures are caused by poor planning and commitment.

So this project may not make anyone very rich (well it may just not very likely) but it will be a good learning experience. When i personaly first tried my hand at webhosting I was young, to young to properly understand the impotance of good marketing and customer servcie etc.

    So a bit about me:
I have run many small projects over my time, I recently sold of a Game service provider which I set up on a £100 investment and sold 2 years later for a £x,xxx amount, during this time I learnt a lot about SEO, marketing, billing, promotion, customer support etc etc.

Now the reason why I think this could potentialy (possibly/maybe) work is if we get enougth specialised people working together, the roles I have in mind are the following:

    Manager
    Financial Manager
    Tech
    Graphics Designer
    Marketing and SEO
    Public relations
Web Coder (for site and mini sities later)
    Blogger/ Article writer
    2-3 Sales Support staff
    2-3 Technical support staff
    Investors?

(Investors maynot be needed if we start on a reseller plan etc but I think that makes future expansion a bit more difficult, and if it is decided we want to start on a dedicated server everyone could chip in for the first month.)

I know this is a lot of people to bring on board one small project but with enougth work and people working towards a common goal it could quickly grow.

    Why so many people?
Most webhosts are started by a 1 man band meaning response time is slow, technical/sales support is often not avaliable and they tend to end up selling to one community and take their eye off the bigger market.

All critisim is welcome, but anyone who is intrested in any role or being involved in general please PM me or post below.

I hope this post has shown the potential of the idea without drifting from reality.

    Thanks
    Amir Khan

I wish you luck, but so many people start as 1 man bands because 99% of the people you meet that say they are qualified to start a web host simply aren't. Also, the profit margin is becoming smaller and smaller as time goes on due to the large amount of hosts and the competition. Honestly, this is something I would not advise getting into. There are so many better ways to invest your money than into starting a web host.
