What is the best apporach for looking for capital investors / VC's? The usuall answer that I get is "You have to know one."

Does anyone know of VC's or angels in the entertainment industry? I'm at a loss as to whom I can approach and how. Maybe I've always known the answer but I've been too shy/one bitten? The banks are of no use to me. I have approached them with a competant business plan that was approved from a gov't entreprenural course but the banks won't even consider it. They (the banks) say that they are there to help the little guys; but all they care about is your credit rating. They have even told me that the reason that they denied my application was that I had student loans and that they 'didn't have a business model/formula for my business'. Even my branch manager says that all she can do is pass it along to head office. But they don't see my business nor do they talk my language.

Endoplasmic Entertainment is an audio production house that is a one-stop shop for artists and clients in the entertainment industry. We provide services such as rehearsal rooms for practicing, venues for indepandent bands, setup and organization of concerts and corporate events, broadcast services, and pre-post productions services for bands wishing to record CD's.

To date I have proven that there is a market in my area and have developed a large clientel base over the last 2 years. Infact I'm starting to turn away clients based on the fact that my reservations for practice space, are full during peak times. And this is what I need the capital for: To expand my equipment to provide greater services and make small leaseholder improvements.

Any suggestions?

You're just the type of person I missed by being in the wrong forum. I havea similar post in general biz..

What are the costs involved in this and would it help you out any other way than marketing to possibly team up with some other people?

I have on person who directs videos and stuff and sweet deal on a summer concert spot for promotional purposes. I have 2 very small investors so far, but should opportunity permit and be good, and depending on what you have to offer through this... perhaps we could work something out together that lowers cost for both of us and compliments the efforts on both sides.

I've got a marketing company in Burnaby, full of printing and visual production equipment. Do you offer promotional services as well? I'd be interested in working on any projects or events with you, such as concerts, film releasing/marketing, etc..
I know from time to time I could use a good recording / audio company (radio ads, video, etc..)
