I am looking for an Investor/Buisness Partner to help me out with 2 ideas i have. I was talking to Davison Invention, but they want tons of money from me, and i am a college student with no money. Heres my best description without giving it away.
Window Film: No longer is tint going to be to dark!
-This new film allows you to be able to see at night or day.
-Very cheap to make plastic/very high mark up!
-Will be able to be used on anything with a window!
-The tint will be similar to a product used in a different field.
Hydraullic or Air Pressure Hood: The newest way to open a hood!
-This hood works with the push of a button.
-No longer will you have to touch your hood.
-Engine bay easily acceptable
-Looks awesome with Vertical Doors
-Hood moves
I enjoy customizing my automobile and thats were alot of my ideas come from.
Im only 20 years old and i dont no where to go with my ideas, so i thought i would try this option. If you are intrested please contact me and i will give you all the details.

errrr.....I'm all very supportive and all that, but the person who is encouraging you to "invent things" should be locked up and never released.
I've met thousands of guys like you at places like http://www.tritonfoundation.org.au/
If you don't change what you're doing, you're gonna be a 55 year old disenchanted alcoholic, chasing completely apathetic financiers and wondering why no one cares about your invention
Right now, due to inexperience, you have a deeply flawed idea of what "investors" are, and what they want. You need to correct this problem.
If you want tips on equity finance, I'll be able to provide those, and you'll very quickly why you need to change your mindset, if you want to achieve any of your objectives.
Alternatively, if you just like tinkering with stuff, there's very little I can do to help.

ok jeramie...great attitude
let me explain to you the problem that you're having, and the solution. What I expect from you is either more questions, or a steadfast dedication to adopting the solution
negative returns: there is a very simple reason why investors, and smart entrepreneurs, don't invest in ideas. that reason is: IDEAS DON'T PAY. for proof, get your hands on the report describing commercialisation rates for patents, registered designs, and other kinds of bright ideas. You'll find that 99% of the world's brilliant ideas always lose money for people who try to commercialise them. that's why you should forget about "investors funding my idea". investors don't fund ideas, they fund people who can make money.
the problem: your entire understanding of entrepreneurship is backwards. to make entrepreneurship work your you, you have to think of entrepreneurs as being doctors. skilled entrepreneurs (i.e. those who make money), go out and firstly diagnose people's problems and then sell them cures. you're doing the opposite by inventing cures without having firstly diagnosed any patients.
the solution there is only one right way to start a business. this is when you go and collect market research surveys to identify a problem, use the results to secure employment contracts and other resources to deliver a product/service (the solution) to people who filled out the survey; and then use the money to expand the business - which might require external equity funding in some cases.
bottom line: to solve all of your funding/money/success problems - do what I tell you; put your crazy ideas on the back burner, go find some prospects with a problem that needs a solution, use these surveys to get help in building the solution and then sell the solution to the people who indicated that they want to buy the damn thing.
follow these steps, and you'll be beating off investors with a broom stick

thanks akula for the insight. However there is a problem when you arent able to see out of your tinted windows. My solution fixes that by using what im calling "transition window film" it will allow your windows to not be as tinted at night abling you to see.

One thing to keep in mind if you're seeking a patent is that it's a very long and difficult process. You're idea needs to be 100% original - that means if there is ANY indication that someone else has done something like this, then you can't patent it. If I create a Wikipedia entry about my hydraulic hood lift, you're out of luck. For this reason, not only do you need to do a patent search, but you also need to do literary research and extensively browse the internet.
A lot of companies prevent patent lockouts by publishing their findings in unknown foreign publications. If a competitor tries to apply a patent, it's denied because the company can simply produce the foreign literature as evidence that the product is already public domain.
Publish your invention for everyone to see, screw the patent, and sell your product. That's about the best advise I can give you.
