Looking for biz partners
Hello, i'm a recent graduate engineer from india and have some ideas for online business.
Some of them are:
1> Direct to user toolbar advertisement - giving latest sales, discounts and other info from local vendors.Users can select their choice of ads delivered to them, choice of area. I'm also looking for sharing my revenue with users as they look for the ads.
2>Educational animation website featuring how things works in an animated way. This could include virtually anything from fluorescent bulbs to complex industrial equipments like distillation column.i know this would be much more complex to establish.
I'm looking for a business partner, preferably from india but people from other countries are equally invited.Investment issues can be dealt with venture firms.I have to do market research with the above propositions to know their scope and prospects.
Please reply with your posts and queries...
Thanx shaun

#1 who the heck is going to download a toolbar that sends them adds? I wont even download a toolbar that gives me some value just because I hate those things.. But advertisements, that sounds horrid. the way to go is give some value to the customer and than throw in the advertisements.
#2 Sure why not? sounds very expensive, would need experienced staff and such, also there are sites like "howstuffworks" and the discovery channel that do a good job of this already, but maybe this is a new idea in india?

Thanx for ur reply..
#1 The ads through the toolbar won't be conventional ads. They will be more informative. For example, if u select in the toolbar to show u all the cheap air tickets online and offline vendors in your area, it will show u.This could be gr8 if u r visiting some place. So instead of searching the web, the search comes to u... --> This is just to cite an example.
#2 The sites u referred r obviously some big names. But what they lack is a structured set of videos. I want to compile a whole structured informative animation series that would cater distinctly to school,junior-high(as in usa),secondary and college students.Students usually(including me) have a gr8 deal of problem visualizing complex chemical reactions, how a distillation column works, how kirchoff's laws work, etc...
Please post ur comments so that i can learn and rectify myself...

Okay, I think #2 is actually a good idea if it hasn't been done already. I took chemistry in high school and college before changing to business and besides some lame pictures in the books it is difficult to understand such concepts if a visual learner..

A lot of people such as myself says why would you download a toolbar when there are so many on the internet and they may also think it is a scam.......... it. Could become a good idea but it needs a lot more planning to it

Number 2 is a great idea and I can think of many ways to generate revenue from this. I'd be interested to work on this. PM me if you have more details.

I think I have seen number 1 done before, people generally will not use a toolbar to search for ads unless it has been incentivised i.e they get some kind of reward points/money for searching the ads
2) is a good idea, you may need a lot of start up capital though to develop it to it's full potential. However as it is educational, if developed sufficiently it could be a big money maker

I agree
#2 is a great idea if you can keep the content free. If optimized properly you should be able to earn a good bit of money from Google Ads alone.
My question would be...what language will the videos be in? If you could have vids in multiple languages...that provides a huge value proposition for consumers. Likewise, if I am in the U.S. and the videos are in another language I see no utility there. Your idea is great...I would consider ways to get user generated educational content-this will dramatically reduce costs and increase stickiness. Perhaps you could speak with TA's and Grad Students looking to enhance their profile.
PM me if you would like to talk more...

Thanx for ur posts mark n diknox...
Well #1 is incentivised as user would share ads revenue with me when they click an ad of their choice.
I would now emphasize more on #2.These vids would be totally animated and in english.
I'm now looking for partners to materialixe this idea..
Anybody interested may PM me...
Thanx shaun...

Any number of us on here can materialize the idea. the question is what do you bring to the table? Whats your goal? Whats your business plan? What experience do you have in the key areas (web design, SEO, etc).
If you want to get help out of people, especially on a forum like this where we see daily requests for capital or partnerships you will need to sell yourself, not just your business plan.
Tips
-no more typing gr8, 2 etc. Type out all words as it is hard to read shorthand posts.
-Spell check all posts. A few errors are fine but you should be spelling most words correctly or it projects a poor tone in the posts.

In other words we need assurance that you are a a person with integrity, with a solid business plan, forcast earnings, expected return on equity for at least the next year.
Take a word of advise: "if businesses fail to plan, they plan to fail" . although your business idea will probably not fail. if you don't come up with a good plan you will. Its that simple

The business idea is to create animated videos of different topics from a variety of subjects.Though all of the topics cannot be catered due to learning constraints(like mathematics), this idea can be extended to as far as possible to help students grab the idea of how things works. This would be a visual aid to their studies.
There are many giants in this field like discovery, howstuffworks.com,etc,,
but what i intend to do is create a list a videos that would be structured.
To give you an idea, lets take chemical engineering for an example.
The syllabi of this field has many topics like maths, process instrumentation, chemical reactions, chemical structures, modes of reaction, how different elements and compound react, and many more.
Videos for all these topics can't be created. But many of the topics can be animated to give the students an in-depth understanding of the topic.
I couldn't find a single website that cater to these needs. There are videos that are specific to a topic giving students visual of a single topic, but not all. They also are not structured. They list a series of videos that may interest the student to view. If these videos are made structured and cater the students for their general needs, this idea could be a boom. Now did you all get what my point is?
To say about myself: I'm a fresh graduate engineer(Instrumentation and control) from india.I have experience in c/c++,php,mysql,html and little of web designing.
I can quickly grab things that i don't know (not boasting, but its true).
What i need from you guys is understanding the scope and market prospects of this idea.
I know i don't have as much experience as you guys have, but if given proper suggestions and support i can make a killing.
Shaun
