Looking for a Team

Hey Everyone. I am new here and have been enjoying the site. Lots to be learned here.

So I have a project that I have had on hold do to its complexity and size and probably cost. It is a web based business directed at small business. I know how I want it to work, but I really could use some experts in their fields to let them vet it out a little and really see if its something that could work. I know of one other business that does the same thing, and there are doing well. I want to take it to the next level. It would increase costs a bit, but in the long run I think it would be a very good thing.

I have a site that is developed, but its old and I only just have the files and really don't know how to put it all together. I can givethe files out once everything has been discussed.

Here are some of the skills that would be needed.
  • web developing
  • marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • writing (Press releases, article's and blogging)
  • XHTML and CSS
  • databases(mysql). May need a commercial database app.
  • Javascript
  • php
  • graphic design
  • And probably other skills as well.

This project has been idle for quite some time, so I really don't miss the money that I spent on it now. I can't afford to develop the whole thing myself now or in the near future. I would try for loans, but without anything to show other than an idea, I doubt that would go. I am willing to kind of split this up to about 4 people including myself. If people think it has alot of potentail, I would even go more on it.

I already have a corp for it so that part is set. Now I just need to find the talent to make it work. Let me know if you want to hear more and I will give you more details.

Thanks,
Jeff

Not a terrible post... you still need to give a basic overview of the business and also what you are offering to your potential partners...

Ok, here is a link to who the main competitor would be.
ccnow. com

Basically I want to take what they are doing an make it a full solution. I mean everything. What I have now is the software to allow people to create an online store and sell their products easy and for free. I do not want to charge a monthly fee at all. It already hard enough for small business getting started to make ends meet. This allows them to use that money somewhere else. Say advertising on our site.

So basically its an online mall that give clients a way to sell online without all the e-commerce stuff like merchant account hosting fee's site development and upkeep, Search Engine Optimization and all the other little things that add up to a lot. We take care of it all. Thats a very basic version of what it would be.

Income would come from 3 places as I see it now.

a percentage of every sale each customer makes.
advertising
things like google adsense

Do to the fact that its free and we develop the site we would be able to put discrete advertising on each page that is within our domain. If a client does not want any advertising we can hen charge them a monthly fee for site usage. As the client list grows and so does the traffic and the possibility of more income. Each client can advertise on the webmall(I do have better name for it) and so can outside vender's. The mall would be searchable by vendor and product.

Well I could go on and on, but thats the basics of the idea. I think, and could be wrong that small business would go for a no risk deal if it really was no risk to them. If they make no money a given month the don't pay. But when they do we take a percentage.

Sorry for going on and on. hope that clear things up a little.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeffrey, if you can assemble a solid team and have a very solid work ethic and don't let this project sleep any longer, I can assist with internet/land based marketing as well as Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a specialty of mine and could be an asset to this project.

Let me know,
Cam

Hello jeff,
I am a (sometimes freelance) webdesigner and coder(xhtml, css, ajax). I offer my services as webdesigner for the webdesign team of your new bussiness.
I live in the netherlands, (that's not germany or holland:P, lots of discussion about that sometimes) and make my money with freelancing and designing/basing templates as I am a student. But I would really like to have an extra job at an internet based company for whom I could work on regular base. My designs are creative and my new portfolio will be online soon, I could send you some work I have made. I can make creative/expensive/simple/clientfriendly looking designs. If you are interrested giveme a pm.
Thanks in advance,
