Internet Gaming Center Capital

Hello,

For the last seven or eight years, I have been participating in LAN parties and gaming events. During that time, I have contemplated starting my own internet cafe. I initially went into creation of a business plan at a young age with a friend of the family. However, he decided to ditch the whole thing, leaving me to my own devices.

Now, years later, due to a renewed interest in business ownership, I have produced a business plan for an internet game center in the city of Wichita Falls, TX. I am currently a member of the USAF working as a computer programmer, and have the knowledge required to implement the technical side of the business. However, the one thing that is lacking is the startup capital to get the ball rolling. I am currently working with the Texas SBDC to finalize the business plan, cash flow analysis, etc. and if there are any investors interested in the prospect of creating this internet game center, please let me know.

This would be the second internet gaming center in Wichita Falls, and the first of its size and quality. The current business competition is very small, unorganized, lacks a marketing strategy, and is in a poor location. The thing that would really set my business apart (aside from the size and quality of the facilities) is the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) section (in addition to the provided computers) of the center that will be incorporated, as well as a lounge area to include X-Box 360's. Refreshements would be available to customers (sodas, enery drinks, etc.), and I hope to create a social gathering for those with mutual computer and console interests. The center would also be available for LAN Party rental for those not wanting the hassle of providing their own network and facilities for a LAN party for any occasion.

The fact that refreshments are a key part of your tactical strategy is worrisome.

Lets take refreshments out of the equation. That wasn't meant to come off as a key aspect, more of a desired addition. The business plan does not call for refreshments as a necessity from the start, but still accounts for them in future cost and growth.

It would also aid in preventing users from leaving the gaming center for the reason of hunger or thirst.

actually just to work your idea muscles a little I would take refreshments entirely out of the picture. How can you retain your clientele while they are dying of thirst?? Whats the big IDEA? is the "third" place for a demographic that Starbucks is not reaching? etc...

link

This place is in Rochester NY - and they started up in a strip mall that had two fast food joints (a mom & pop pizza stop, and Subway) - and a sports bar within *easy* walking distance...

location becomes key to the business case - if yer not able to differentiate from competition beyond 'refreshments'....

Got a plan for contests or local Electronic store support? (ie: like having a Best Buy vidiot contest... or a Media Play showdown?)... Worked in any thought about a contest between the "other" competition and yerself?

How about other gaming stuff - like a local school displaying some of their IT folks projects at yer place?

...just thoughts...

Yes, I am completely serious. As I said, I'm working with the Texas Small Business Development Center (part of the SBA) to finalize all the details.

I would probably say that the only way to prove this would be to contact them, but I don't know if they would confirm my story due to privacy reasons.

I do appreciate the links, and my request for financial assistance remains open.

Let me know if you need water proof keyboards for your center. I like your idea and how you have separated yourself from the competition.

Refreshments would be a nice addition, a few vending machines and your set, sort out a deal with a local pizza place

Its a good idea, and if you do have the advantages you say you do you should easily steal your competitors customers.
