interested in getting a government grant

Hi friends, I recently heard that Wall-mart is taking out their "fabric" department. I was interested in getting a government grant to open a fabric shop up myself. None in our town the closest one is two hours away and the quilters here in town are in an uproar because of it. I was just wondering if someone could give me a link to a grant site that you don't have to purchase anything from. Your answers are much appreciated.

There are many different types of grants: (city, county, state, federal, and others). You can get grants for many different reasons as well. I’m working on a commercial property in one city that has city grants for improvements, subsidy loans from the county, and rebates from the state. If you want to find the best programs for your situation I recommend contacting your local chamber of commerce or city planning committee. They usually have the best resources to find what you need.

I’m not familiar with a single source on the internet that will have all the info you need. There are some books like the one by that guy with the question marks all over his suit that are for sale. The sources on the internet can be confusing and expensive. Try to contact government agencies as they will be the one issuing the grants anyways.

    Grant Information

Go to grants.gov for federal grant registration. Look at you local chamber of commerce for leads to funding sources in your community. Good Luck.

Grants are very hard to get anymore unless you are bringing a significant amount of new jobs to an area. I would suggest trying to get a business LOC. Have you incorporated yet? Have you registered with DNB? Do you have a strong business credit score yet? Those are the first steps you will want to take when starting a business. You cannot count on grants that you do not have to pay back because they are few and far between.
