Smile Feature Film seeking finishing funds

Hello,

My name is Michael Coonce, I am with Emmemax Films in New York. We have a feature film that is currently in postproduction; the target completion date is August 1st 2008.

In simple terms- I raised 528k for the movie so far.

This film is our first major production, with a second currently in development.

Two things can be taken from this post; one- there are a lot of people out there looking to con you out of the money you've worked hard to acquire for your project- so watch out for them. We've ran in to no less than two so far which have both almost caused disastrous results for us.

second- there is still a great opportunity with investing in this film at this time.

I've been fortunate enough to horde a decent share of the film throughout this venture, but because of a few people we had the poor fortune of run into. I'm now in a possession where I have to start issuing more shares again.

The film is titled Lonely Joe- you can find it on IMDB; you can also watch the trailer and see more info on the film at LONELY JOE - Official Movie Site (Google Lonely Joe)

Again, the film will be market deliverable 1 August. I currently have a distribution deal for Finland. I also have a pending output deal through Lionsgate.

I also have contacts with outputs through Universal and Fox. I cant list their names here, but interested parties can contact me directly and I can present our BP, and share the marketing, and distribution plan with you.

90% of the work on this film is already done. The interest shares to be issued at this stage are more generous than those issued at the beginning; plus the waiting period for ROI is shorter than my first investors from a year ago, as revenue generation will begin this Fall.

Again, my name is Michael Coonce; my email is Michael at Emmemax.com
The company is EMMEMAX FILMS - The Next Leader in Independent Film (Google)

Only serious inquiries please.

Why can't you use tax credits?
There has been completition funding available from UK and Ireland screen funds but then you need to do the post production here. Northern Ireland have four professional post production facilities here.

Our post production is almost complete; the funds are for a deferment that is coming due. We need the money for the deferment, the film itself will be finished regardless.

We should have written the deferment for when the film is distributed, but I ended up listening to someone that turned out to be a crook.

NY has a stipulation when it comes to tax credits. Your film has to be shot in a "qualified facility" for one day. We shot in a facility that was supposed to be qualified, but when the time came to finish the paperwork for that facility, the guy changed his mind and we lost 35k because of that decision. No skin off his back since we had already shot at the site.

We've learned a lot of lessons on this film. First thing is, trust nothing anyone says, only what they do. Getting things in writing isn't even a guarantee. I have a 250k contract right here in front of me that hasn't been honored.

This industry has great potential for making a lot of money, if you can maneuver through it and still come out with a great film.

It just turns out there are people at every corner, trying to get what they can from you along the way. I hadn't anticipated this.

I need to raise about another 40k. I've exhausted all of my 50-100k contacts, since they are already investors in the film.

Someone had emailed me earlier; I don't know if you're the same person though.

Basically, all my high risk investors are already in, so now, I'm talking with those with lower risk tolerances. What we're doing to make the process a little more comforting is placing the remaining funds into a CD. Then our production borrows against the CD.

The name of the CD will be in the name of the investors. So that money will always be theres. The CD will probably be a 2 year term, then at maturity, the money goes back to the people it came from.

What we're also doing, though the money is going into the CD, we'll issue a percentage share to the investor as if the funds went directly to the film. So they collect, the 2-4% CD yield, their funds are secure, and they get the interest off the films distribution.

To answer your question- 40k. We're doing it at the 5-10k level until complete.
