Business Partner

Hi

I am a 20 year old extremely driven and motivated entrepreneur based in the UK. I have wanted to get into the world of internet business for a while now. I want to start an online e-commerce site or e-Bay store but would like to find a partner who also is looking to embark on a similar project. If not I have a couple of other ideas and am willing to listen to like minded individuals and hopefully we could come up with a feasible idea. The reason I suggest an e-Bay store and not one of my other ideas is because I have no real internet business experience in terms of web design, web marketing etc so wanted to keep it simple.

Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks

Dear Andrew,

First off it is great that you are motivated because the internet is a cut throat business and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But that said, for those that have succeeded it has brought infinite wealth and prosperity.

The problem is your idea- E-bay is a well established site, a giant of sorts in the world of e-commerce. You must realise that they will be your competitors and I personally wouldn't dream of even challenging them. You will be the underdog- everyone loves the underdog- everyone wants to see him succeed. Unfortunately it's rare they do. But when they do they triumph- take for example Google. You may remember Yahoo (it was another search engine). Google challenged Yahoo and came out on top. At the end of the day it's all about that unique selling point. That uncommon factor that makes you the common choice for the people. Another typical example of the underdog is Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream- created by two hippies and now a huge multinational enterprise.

The point I'm trying to make is that you need to prove your worth and not just imitate someone elses idea's. Why do you think the Beatles were better than the Monkees? It wasn't because they didn't write good music, it was because they were living in the shadow of the greater band.

A factor that worries me is your lack of experience in this general area. However I would be interested in hearing some of your other ideas.

Yours,
Ted

I think you have misread the post; I am not looking to challenge e-Bay or any other major site for that matter, well at least not short term. lol I am just looking to start an online venture of some kind with hopefully a business partner with the hopes of learning the internet business world. Any other suggestions, advice, questions?

Do you have MSN? I have been dealing in Wholesale for a few years and would be happy to help you out and also play the role as a business partner if you wish.

Advise: Find someone with the same ambition and drive as you. No dead weights because they will eventually drown you.

And finally, I wish you every success in this business venture and hope that someday I'll be buying something or other off your site.

Yours,
Ted
