Building an Entrepreneur Team

I am on the hunt for a team of several individuals who have an entrepreneurial desire to start-up and acquire businesses.
Experience in a start-up business or management-level experience in one of the below areas is necessary.

The team will be comprised of young entrepreneurs who each possess talents/skills that will complement the other partners. I have discovered that finding people with talents/skills/experience in different areas creates the most effective management team. As of now, I am looking for entrepreneurs who specialze in the following areas:

1. IT
2. Marketing/Advertising
3. HR
4. Operations*
5. Business-Development**
6. I will be doing the Finance/Accounting/Business-Development

*Note for the Operations individual(s) - Looking for those who have had experience in any industry and could run the operations part of whatever business you are interested in.

**Business Development - Individual w/ experience acquiring/starting multiple businesses and has excellent networking resources.

My goal is to find a team that is most cohesive while working together, yet each individual has distinguishing skills/experience in the aforementioned areas (as well as managing/training staff).

I'm open to suggestions. I do not have any business prospects in mind as of yet; however, I feel finding the right people first is the most important thing. For more info please email me @ cbrothers@thegroundcrewllc.com

You're looking for all these types of people but you have no direction at all?

What I would like to establish is a holding company. I'm looking for people interested in this type of venture, but have specific areas of expertise.

Yes, my thoughts are unconventional in the sense that I'm looking for people first, then the business prospects. I firmly believe that people make all the difference, not the business opportunity. I would take a great management team and a mediocre business idea over a superior business idea but incapable management team.

So if we are talking about a specific business idea, then no, there is no clear direction. I realize this philosophy may appear illogical to some, but I think having the right people in place first will take you places you never imagined alone.

Please email me if you are interested or would like additional explanation and we can discuss further.

This is very true. VC's like Klyner Perkins Claude and Byer look atthe management. If the management consists of some of the most experienced business(wo)men and entrepreneurs, then it must be a really good idea. Would a seasoned entrepreneur waste his time with a bad idea? Obviously not. The problem is that you need to generate an idea, then come up with the team. If you come up with a new internet venture, you want programmers, and netpreneurs. If you come up with something like a new fitness machine, then you want fitness freaks and engineers. Your idea is parallel FDR's braintrust, but this is a business, not an economy.

I agree that you need specialists to perform the operations of the business and other areas when dealing with industries that require expertise in say, marketing because the way you advertise will vary widely across industries.

If I wanted to start an oil & gas exploration company each member (partner) of the management team would be responsible for finding employees who are specialized in the oil & gas industry. For example, the operations parter would target geologists who have had experience performing seismic tests and studying the origins of oil in rocks while the finance/acct partner would find a controller/CFO who has had experience in the oil & gas industry.

Having several people work on discovering whether or not a business prospect is worthwhile based on the different angles they take (mktg vs. IT vs. Finance, etc.) far surpasses even the most seasoned solo entrepreneur. Then, once a prospect is deemed worthwhile to pursue, the management team will find the employees/specialists to run the business.

Think of it this way: the management team is like the Board of Directors who find the best employees (Executive management on down) to run the business for them.

Not to attack you but..I don't think you need these people for a "board of directors":
1. IT
2. Marketing/Advertising
3. HR
4. Operations*
5. Business-Development**
6. I will be doing the Finance/Accounting/Business-Development

You probably won 't get anyone interested until you have an idea. If I were an expert at say... IT, I wouldn't join your braintrust with no ideas or direction. It might be different for others though, I dunno.

I do have a few ideas in mind. I think it would be beneficial to have a core group of entrepreneurs to knock them around with. It would also give others the opportunity to share their ideas.

Most of us are more familiar with certain types of businesses/industries depending on our skills/experiences. There is often a large gap of taking ideas we have developed based on our skills/experiences and putting those ideas into action. To bridge that gap we need assistance from fellow entrepreneurs, who may specialize in different facets of business.

If you are interested in any ideas I have pls email me. cbrothers@thegroundcrewllc.com

I just went to Karllina .com and registered. Tried a few posts and found it useless unless you pay to be a member of "Private Club" which you have to pay for. Craig's List was "FREE" for nearly 2 years befor they started charging for stuff....after they built up a huge following. Paying for a new fourm with 33 members of god knows who is a waste of time and money.
