    Your Succesfull Businesses?

    Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to know how many people on this forum are currently running a successful business ( blogs , online businesses , shops etc. )

I would want to know what it is , where it is you do it , how much you make ( profit ) what was the start-up costs , how long you took to do it.

    The more information the better.

I can sense that this thread will immediateley get a lot of spammers posting and a lot of " you can build a succesfull business if you buy my ebook for only 50 dollars"

Anyway , just wanted to see how the YE community is currently doing.

    Real Estate Wholesales

I'm in real estate. I'm currently wholesaling contracts in Boise, Idaho or you can call it the Treasure Valley since that includes all of its suburbs and I'm looking into rehabs to hold for rental but if I do that, I want to rehab multi-unit rentals.

To get started, I didn't cost much. I didn't do any advertising just pursued FSBO (For Sale By Owner). This also cut down on my earnest money deposits. Usually with a bank or a realtor the require $1000+ for an earnest money but you can get by with a FSBO with a few hundred. And if not, there are ways around it.

As of right now, i've only done 5 wholesales in 7 months but i've averaged about 4200 per wholesale deal which is actually below average. I have bought some toys with those profits but I've also purchased different operating materials like a new computer, printer/fax, phone line, I'm looking into getting a answer service, etc. I've also set aside profits for future marketing campaigns which will include a website that creates local and nation wide leads as well as my company information.

It took a while for me to get started. It isn't difficult to do, I was just afraid of failure. But I looked at the best and worst case scenario and decided that the worse case scenario isn't that bad.

I started a medical supply business in 1997 with $10,000 I saved up. Then a bunch of other investments later on to keep the business running(including taking out a home equity loan, cashing out 401K, savings). In 2005 I broke my million dollar mark. In 2007 almost doubled my company sales operating at over 20% margin; then the economy went south so now I am doing about 1.5M trying to build it back up again.

    My Gig

I started a company called 'Rich Grads' which educates new graduates and young adults how to get started right (and professionally) in network marketing, starting part-time.

I focused on young adults because I know how many of them are having a tough time finding jobs out of college/university and they aren't being shown these exciting alternative career paths.

When I graduated in '99, we were in a recession then, just like now - so I know what it's like. But now I make an excellent income from home along with my real estate (I consult in the commercial real estate field too) and it gives me great pleasure to coach young entrepreneurs how network marketing and real estate investing can work for them too!

I also do speaking events with young adults and I get blown away with how motivated and ready they are to start their own business, but need a little guidance in how to get started. It's very rewarding.

I scraped together all I had which allowed me to last for 6 months. I started the company with basically about 10.000 Euro.

After 2,5 years we're making roughly 500.000 a year turnover, next year we'll probably be between 1.000.000 and 1.500.000. Not bad for a business of 2 people (4 or 5 in the beginning of next year).

It takes time and effort more than it takes money though. Money can only get you so far.

Yes it is. We have had a long road to get here. We started with a company called NUBIKO, developing software with teams in Eastern Europe. That was with 4 partners (me included). Long story short, we bought out 2 of them and focused more on the entire project instead of just the software.

We then partnered with Z Management Consultants, who do consultancy mostly the financial sector here in the Netherlands. Together we have started Z Innovative Technology, which combines the network of both companies. So now we are developing some great self-service webapplications for big companies in the automotive educational/certification industry.

Currently we are starting the development of a software product based on our knowledge of this sector. Eventually we want to tap into other, similar markets as well.

Sadly enough, we are still working on the new company style for the Z group (management consultants and innovative technology) so our website is linking to theirs for now

jmeijers - wow that's a very inspiring story, you should be extremely proud of the outcome! I find defining the brand identity one of the hardest challenges in creating a success. I have great admiration that you could both attend university and create such a wealth of success at the same time. I too hope to integrate myself within the education and software industry.

krisss - As it has not yet been launched I am still not comfortable with posting the idea on a public site, I can only divulge the details with family and a select few friends and individuals. I still have some time to go due to A) high investment requirement and B) I am still working on a suitable marketing campaign. As the world of business is a 'dog eat dog' world I can imagine someone with access to larger funds could beat me to the launch! As soon as it has been launched I will be posting about it on here! Hopefully it will be as successful as many others on this thread!
