Young College Student - Launching My First Big Web Project - Will I Succeed?

I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Washington and for the last 3-4 months have been working with my partner (He's 21 and resides in Australia. I also met him here at the YE forums) to put together a top of line website marketplace site.

We have taken suggestions from website buyers and sellers from across the net and analyzed the faults within all the current website marketplace systems to create a site that has the potential to be a huge contender in this industry and eventually compete directly with the SitePoint Marketplace.

Since I was 13 or so I've been finding ways to make money online and have been thinking up and growing business ideas. Nothing ever really went anywhere but now I feel I have finally hit something big that will become a big success and allow me to finally be successful on the net.

I've always been good at communicating with people online and have good business sense and have the ability to get my name out there which is my role with this site. I'm in control of and manage the frontend and name/reputation of our website.

My partner on the other hand has good people managing skills, great Search Engine Optimization talent, and design ability. He's in control and manages the backend of our site and makes sure everything is functional and working.

Together it really feels as though we make a perfect team and there's really no way either of us could have pulled off this project as well without the other. This alone is a vital attribute that should allow for good success.

I sincerely think we can both make it pretty big on the net with our site and I guess am curious what all you guys think.

We're both young, ambitious, and will never give up. All really great factors in achieving success.

I like the idea but whether you will succeed or not will only depend on you. If you work hard and fair, I bet you can succeed. Website itself looks understandable, professional and easy to use.

Hey, nice concept.. out of interest however, how do you plan on competing with the big boys, like sitepoint, dp, sedo?

How will you set yourself apart?

It sounds like you have the motivation to make it. Have you developed a marketing plan? Where do you plan on finding the sites to sell?

You said it "Your young,ambitious, and you will never give up". As long as you know that and you love what you do, in the end you will never fail because you said it yourself... - You will NEVER give up!

Don't stop.

Don't do it for the money.

Do it because you love what you do.
