You have a new invention. Now what?

Let's say you have invented some item. Now what? Do you find helpful information pretty scarce? To me this was both astounding and frustrating. Whom do you consult? There are companies like Fulcrum Patent Solutions, which is a patent consulting firm that provides high quality patent assertion, defense, and monetization services to the legal and business communities.

Please share any information you have on whom you would consult.

First find a lawyer. If you have a working prototype you can get "Patent Pending" status which lasts a year and it significantly cheaper than an actual patent. Of course after that first year you'll have to put down enough for the actual patent. Once you get patent pending status start looking for investors.
