"stupid" and "good" ideas usually always work, but you need to put the required time into it to succeed.

When it comes to facebook, the users on there aren't really looking for something to make their lives easier, they are there to have fun and connect with friends. The "friends for sale" application is a way to rate your friends and have some fun.

And to the quote about being "young and immature," facebook was not meant for people to be mature about. Thats the whole point of the social networking. They just want to have some fun

I would not go as far as saying they ALWAYS work. The examples you made are not really stupid though, they are targeting the correct market segment with the correct products. I get what you mean though, but people always buys what they WANT, but not always what they NEED.

I think guys most of the people or Facebook users are young people, so that’s why the first and maybe only aim to open an account in there is make friends and have something to spend time. That’s pretty good for the people who are using this kind of network as a marketing way because the users don’t really know this kind of strategies and functions so they just become the ignorance product.

no such thing as a stupid biz idea. lol

a biz markets to the person(s) who want to be sold. it's plain simple. if there're ppl at facebook who want to poke/nudge you , play scrabble or just plain old want to rate pics of ppl they find hot, programmers will fill in the demand and supply em these stuff whilst turning a profit from it. basic economics.

You need to consider the demographic using facebook and what this market is using facebook for. If I was looking for something practical (for documents, lets say) I would go to Zoho or Google Docs, not facebook. If I was looking to social network I would go to facebook. I wouldn't try to solve a document organization issue of mine on facebook just like I wouldn't try to social network by using gCal.

Just like document organization sites aren't aimed to compete as a social network, social network sites aren't aimed at document organization or office productivity.

Its not that one idea is stupid and the other isnt, it's just that the more successful app more correctly matched the demographic that uses facebook.
