Which one's better?

this one's important - I got an honest 5 bucks riding on it

we got two copies of the same site:

which one do you think is better (i.e. which one do you hate less)

http://hotbusinessblog.com/ vs. http://www.ecomblog.com/

thanks

I like Ecomblog's layout and colours better than hbb's, although I think you should take the ROI calculator and industry network sections and port those over since they're good content pieces. I also like that you have the compatible applications on hbb's front page - that should go over as well.

From a website owners standpoint, I would not be happy with either. You have no call to action on your website. If you don't have an explicit and clear call to action, your cost for customer acquisition will be much much higher.

Look at Blogger. A very distint call to action and gets the users signed up very quickly. They have a very simple layout which forces your eyes to focus in the middle, you see "what is a blog" if you dont know what a blog is, than your eyes move onto learning the featuresa nd advantages(without reading a boring paragraph), then you see how easy it is to sign up, and the arrow (in bright orange) directs you to the link. From a strategic standpoint, blogger was done extremely well.

Both of your sites, I am confused. do i read the paragraph, do a click on a navigation link, so I want to see a demo.... etc. ecomblog is alright, but the text is way too small and way too much to read. You do have a call to action, but it goes well below the page fold (i have to scroll down to see the rest) which will lose a lot of users. You should either highlight or aesthetically emphasize what is important, or remove the excess content so a user doesn't have to scroll down to see the call to action. You have on average 5 seconds before the user close your website or continue viewing, and I think most people will close yours if you keep that layout.

Froma design point, I like the logo on hbb, econo obviously is some clipart/template logo. If you integrated some more red into ecomblog, it would look the best by far. The other one, the text is just hard to read and it has too many colors. If you need help with colors, checkout ColorLovours.

I am always looking for one, but I wasn't implying that in my response.

mxer210 -

which is better? microsoft.com or symantec.com? It will take him a week to answer this one.

seriously, though - neither website is any good, but the second is best.

try a mixture of both of your sites, as both have good points about each one.
