Which one is better...

I am thinking about starting up one of these companies.

I am thinknig on starting up either a Mobile Phone Company such as the Carphone Warehouse etc(ppl in the uk would of heard of this)

OR

I am thinking of starting up a company selling console games such as Game (ppl in the uk would have heard of this)

OR

Another type of shop which im not 100% sure about.

THE PROBLEM - i don't know any wholesalers to sell me either Mobile Phones, or console games etc. Because, when i find one they are either the wrong thing pretending to be another thing or something along these lines.

Personally I wouldn't recommend either. The reason I don't recommend starting up a mobile phone (or cellphone for you americans) company is that independant retailers in this market really really struggle to compete with the big brand names like O2, Vodaphone, The Link, Phones4U and The Carphone warehouse. Why? It's purely economies of scale, they are able to buy their products in much larger quantities at cheaper unit prices and so are able to charge less to the customer, an independant store cannot do this.

Exactly the same problem applies to a Game retailer due to the big names like Game, PC World and of course the cheap online retailer play.com who are based in jersey and enjoy no taxation.

Your only hope of success would be to buy a franchise of any of the above companies, but I am unsure if they all sell franchises...best to check their websites.

I agree with Grizzly stating that you shouldn't consider doing either of the businesses, but for a different reason.

If you are serious about starting a business in these related fields then seek the advice of people in those fields and don't settle for any advice, which base on your response to Grizzly and your original post in this thread you aren't even willing to seek out specific advice. So if you ask for general advice, well you have no idea what you really want to do and taking on a business venture with-out a passion or direction will never equal =satisfying success.

So don't do either business because you're doomed to fail.

This response is only based on the info that was provided.
