Which do you prefer BMW X5 or Land Rover sport?

I need a new car and I'm going back and forth between the two. There has to be a few cars guys here so which do you prefer if you had a choice?

Definately go with the BMW X5, but you dont see too many of them anymore, have you looked into other cars? Why do you want a SUV so bad. If I had that kind of a budget I would look into an Audi Q7, or try out a sedan. Cant go wrong with a 528 can you? Or maybe a 335i would be good too. Remember the X5 is falling behind and I barely see them anymore. I should ad, between the 2 no doubt the X5, but explore your options.

I looked into sedans and can get a smoking deal on a friends 745 but I actually tow things so an SUV is more practicle. Neither is the perfect tow vehicle however they can tow a couple of bikes no problem.

I prefer the X5 myself but most people I talk to seem to like the RRS.

Oh I should add that both get about the same gas mileage which is about what I'm used to in my Jeep ~15mpg

I agree, explore your options. Keep away from Audi though... I had an Audi TT and it had nothing but problems. A friend of mine had a new A4 and nothing but problems there too. I have a 2005 Nissan 350z 35th Anniv and love it, but the wife is protesting! haha. So I'm checking out the Infinity FX45, Nissan Murano, and Porsche Cayenne. I like the Porsche but can't see paying that much for an SUV. I would definitely go by New Car Prices, Used Car Pricing, Car Reviews by Edmunds Car Buying Guide and check out the consumer reviews on the car before you buy. Also, why the Land Rover? I am sure you have a checklist of things you want in your vehicle, just wondering. I can talk for days about cars!

I actually have a Murano (well my parents), its just awesome handling like a beamer and all the options you want are there. Its 15k cheaper than a beamer and just awesome, but I have to say the Audi Q7 is probably the nicest SUV out there right now, looks, performance, ratings, everything, the interior is just gorgeous(sp). But if I had to pick a car I would go with an A5 hands down for myself. Thats just the sexiest, best w.e you want to call it coupe out there right now. The porsche cayenne is a car filled with sheer power, if you want one go with the turbo the S is just pointless. And offcourse if you have the money.

i love the audi Q7, and i hate all bmw and mercedes suvs. The only landrover i like is the RangeRover. The sport is a little to small and yes they are horrible on gas but is the best looking car in the bunch

I am telling you man, at least test drive the Q7, and post a review or something about how it went. Give me 8 days and once i get my license I will surely test drive that sexy A5.

Thats a tough one. If your going between the 2006 X5, and the 2006 Range Rover sport. Then I would say 100% absolutley Range Rover Sport. The 2008 BMW is REDIC. So if your going between the 2008 X5, and the 2008 Range Sport, you would REALLY have to do your research.

My dad has the 2007 Range Rover HSE Supercharged, since the day he bought it there have been no problems. Although, He does have friends who have similiar range rovers who rant and rave about the ongoing problems the're having with their vehicles. So overall I could'nt tell you which is better car to withstain accidents. BMW does seem to have an incredible service contract though...

I personally would go with the Range Rover, I love them .. but ive never had an x5... so the conflict of interest might influence my opinion?

I not going to lie, a lot of the decision has to do with asthetics and I just dont care for the looks of the Audi.

I just drove the X5 4.8 with sport package, Nav, HUD, pretty loaded but not the 20 way power seats or heated, but I live in San Diego so that's not a big deal.

I do like the Murano and the Toureg but not the Cayenne, it doesnt make much sense. JohnnyBudz yes, we're looking '08 to '08 and the BMW maintenance contract takes care of everything except tires.

Fanatic why land rover? Well, it's in the same category and I like it more than the competition. I thought about just getting a Tahoe they're a lot less but I just dont want that big of a car and I'd like something that will do better with spirited driving. I generally release the speed demon in my on my Duc, but I dont want a pig of a car.

If you want to buy to car, I wouldn't buy a German, English Korean, American and whatever lies in between cars. I would only buy Japanese. If you are leasing, which would be the smart thing to do, then the cars you are looking at are fine, the Audi takes some time to get used to. But the Q7 is truely a car you should at least consider.

Leasing is only smart if you have a business, and even then, who wants to be mile restricted???

I personally go more for sports cars (own a 350z roadster), but I have also been looking for another good "businessy" SUV for taking personal trips. My 'company car' is a Mercedes GL450- and I have to say- I can't complain. The engine feels about as fast as my 350z, and you can hardly feel the weight of the vehicle. It has in-dash NAV, bluetooth, 3 LCD screens total, and Auto everything. The air-ride suspension is incredibly smooth, and the automatic 4x4 works great for off-roading (yes, I know, offroading in a $75,000 SUV isn't all that smart :-)). Anyways, that would probably be my recommendation to anyone with regard to an SUV.

I have driven or know people that have owned most of the SUV's that you have mentioned, and there haven't been too many good things said about them. Yes, they all look sleek and sexy, but they are in the shop more often than they are on the road. If you are leaning towards the BMW, wait a little bit, and go for the new X6 coming out. I think that you're going to get more bang for the buck.

Other than those, take a look at the Lexus GX series, or even better- the RX400. Hybrid performance (good gas mileage and more torque), plus all of the luxury extras. It says "I have style, I have class, and my business gets a higher ROI because I don't waste Gas!". My business partner used to own one of these, and wishes he had never 'upgraded'.
