Which Approach Sounds More Like a Salesperson?

If you were introduced to PPL, which approach would you be more likely to request information regarding a legal plan:

    a) First sharing with someone PPL experience from a customer standpoint and then sharing the Justice For All video if they enroll.
    b) First sharing with someone an informational DVD (i.e. Justice For All) and then the PPL experience from a customer standpoint.

Keep in mind, the person who is sharing this with you is a friend who you trust. Here is an example of a customer experience that was shared with a friend during a conversation about the value of renter’s insurance:

“Since we are talking about the reasons behind buying renters insurance, let me tell you about this Pre-Paid Legal plan that I had for almost two years. I think it relates to many of the things that we were talking about. Four years ago, I heard about PPL through a former associate. She told me about a time that she felt that she was stopped by the police without probable cause. She immediately gave the officer her Legal Shield card which allowed her to immediately call and consult with her attorney. The cop looked at it and gave her merely a warning and went on his merry way. IMHO, the cop probably knew that his detainment of her would be found questionable by an attorney. She also mentioned times where her attorneys have reviewed her legal documents. An attorney reviewed her insurance policy and discovered that her premium was overstated. In other words, she was paying more for her premium than the policy dictates.

Even though I thought PPL was a beneficial service, her stories did not stir enough interest in me to ask for more information about the plan. What drove me to enroll in it was my bogus termination in February 2007. Many of my family and friends suggested that I consult with an attorney to determine whether I can file a lawsuit against Wal-Mart. One day, I asked her , how much would Pre-Paid Legal cost per month. She said it would cost $26 per month. I was surprised; I thought it was at least $100 per month. So it was a no brainer to me, I planned to get the service rather than waste gas setting up appointments with attorneys and paying an hourly rate.

After she presented me with the legal plan brochure that described the overview of the service, I immediately understood that this plan was essentially created to offer insurance protection against the financial burden in paying for legal emergencies: lawsuits against, arrests, divorce etc. Legal fees are between $200-250 per hour. These legal emergencies often require over 50 attorney hours which is on average $10,000 excluding retainer fees. Although, I could immediately use this plan for legal consultation, the primary purpose of the plan is to have the ability to access a lawyer especially when you are falsely accused in a civil or criminal matter.

I always believed from my personal experience that bad things happen to good people. Innocent people have been arrested and have been sued for things that are bogus. Although I realized that legal emergencies occur less frequently than health issues, the financial burden of paying for legal services in these legal emergencies is often enormous.

Although fires and burglaries are reported every other day on the local news, they are not as common as civil lawsuits. They are reported more significantly than lawsuits because the media finds house fires and burglaries more appealing than lawsuits. I figure if I have renters insurance (which I have) to protect assets against these things, how can you not have legal insurance for primarily for legal emergencies. Also I will probably use the Preventive Legal Services benefit more than I would use my renters insurance. It offers unlimited free consultation (for any issue) and the firm provides phone calls and letters at no additional cost (if the lawyer thinks that this is the best way to deal with the issue that I call about.) So when I compare the chances that someone will perform negligent service on my car/house, fail to pay money that they owe me, or several companies incorrectly accusing me of owing them money because my identity has been compromised vs. losing my things in my apartment due to a fire/hurricane, I thought the former has a greater chance of happening.

Lastly, I already believed that PPL worked because of the several stories she shared with me before I signed up as a member. So I did not feel the need to research it as if I were going to buy a car. I trusted her because she was a loyal former associate of mine and she also was a friend who I knew for 4 years. Although she mentioned that the law firms were AV rated and won 90%of their cases and very attorney is required to go through a thorough background check before they, I was already was convinced that I could depend on the service. So it was a no brainer, I became a member.”

Here is website where the Justice for All DVD is shared:

BTW I truly feel that true stories sell and need to be the forefront in sharing any service. However, I am curious what some of you think?

P.S. Please do not leave any comments on that website, I am not the author of the website.
