    Whey Protein Manufacturer

    Hello fellow entrepreneurs!

I have been looking like crazy for a solid manufacturer of Whey Protein. Whey Protein is a by-product of cheese and I live in WI, so I really don't know why it is so hard to find. I have found a lot of lists and e-mailed over 50 people, but they are mostly resellers, who jack the prices up insanely.

Whey Protein is a vital product for most bodybuilders/atheletes/or anyone that loves fitness & health. It is a very saturated market, but I have an excellent idea that will help me stick out. So if any of you know or can find a a good manufacturer please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Jordan

Unfortunately I do not know any manufactures for Whey.
However I do bodybuild and am very aware of the existing market for it.

I would be very interested to know the stats of overall protein supplement sales yearly if you have any info on that.

    Thanks

I don't know sales number for protein in particular, but I did find the number for Nutritional Supplement Sales... 23 Billion Annually

    Diet Supplements and the FDA

And protein is one of the most sold supplements, with Whey being the most popular, so the numbers are high.... My short term goals are much smaller, but I know my idea will bring in plenty of sales.

you should take a look at some existing whey companies and see where they're getting their supply from maybe?

Depending on your age, maybe you can do a little research for a university/college/school project. That way you can call soon-to-be competitors and ask them how their process works, what their big customers are and finally; who their suppliers are and how much they pay versus what profit margin they use.

Manufacturing consumer non durables is tough business. Lots of revenue but razor thin margins. You can check alibaba.com for whey manufacturers. Getting a source of whey won't be your biggest problem. FDA licensing and regulation is where the real problems are, unless you are well capitalized and connected.

Do you know what kind of licensing and regulation problems I would run into? If the manufacturer I plan on purchasing from is compliant with these regulations would I be able to skip most of that legal mess? After all, I would really just be reselling the product, with my name on it.

Sorry I'm no expert. Type in "fda food labeling regulations" or "fda dietary supplements" in google. That should get you started.
