Where do you recomend opening a business account?

Anyone had good experiences with one bank over another? I have to open my business accounts now, and was going to do it with Citibank (just because all my personal accounts are there) - but with the checking account fees they've just imposed, I don't want to give them my business.

What banks have you had good experiences with?

This can depend on what or where your business will be operating. If you are doing all business domestically, I recommend TD Bank. If you will be doing business overseas, although I hate to recommend such a horrible bank as BOA, but Bank of America has offices everywhere and can hold letters of Credit with ease and inexpensively over domestic banks.

Stay away from Bank of America.. they are horrible! I've used PNC and Wells Fargo in the past but prefer Wachovia or who ever the hell owns them now. The key is to get a local branch and then get to know everyone there. Say high when you make your deposits. Be sure the branch manager sees you coming in and out. Developing a real relationship with the people at the branch will be the most important element of your banking relationship.

Go with a smaller, local bank and develop a relationship with your banker, he will come in handy down the road when you need a loan!

It can also depend on how long you've been running the business, as well.

Hm. Interesting. Good to know! Then I am ready to make a bank loan with this smaller bank that I had. I had history with their company, and I already talked to their representative. He understood the industry I am entering, but because I haven't run the business for more than 2 years, he referred me to "personal loan" account. So, like the OP, I am also with Citibank. Problem is that I'm not currently customer with Citibank, and my account is with Chase. Yes, the same company that bought Washington Mutual.

And most of the banks I talked to mentioned in this thread usually have a rule of 2 years minimum requirement for a loan.

Bank of America is the only one that seems to be open of this rule. Their application shows boxes of your information. So, this tells me that they are open to legit businesses. But I see negative feedback for BOA. Interesting.
