When is the last time you Googled your company?

I realized today that I hadn't Googled my company in ages. I know this is an important thing to do in order to see what others see when they look you up online. I was presently surprised by the results.

    1- Home Page
    2- About Us Page
3- Our membership to Recyclers World (helps because we sell recycling services)
4- Our membership to Global Recycling Network (same as above)
5- A listing for one of the books we have for sale (odd but still good)
6- AbeBooks About Us Page (shows we sell books)
7- Our Better Business Bureau Page (always a good thing)
8- Not me (But from the BBB about my industry)
    9- Not me
    10- Not me
    <next page>
    11- Not Me
12- My blog where I'm talking about my company

All in all I saw not negative remarks on the first five pages on Google.

When is the last time you Googled your company? What do you find? Why don't you list what you see on the first page for all of us to see. Did you find anything bad? Did you find anything good? What action plan can you develop from this information?

The last time I google my company was today. 1-10: Not me. I've got work to do.

Did you google your company by name or keyword? I'd think that by keyword is vastly more important.

But by name will tell you what people are saying about you.

This has nothing to do with keywords or marketing... You Google your company name "National Charity Services" to see what others will see when they are researching your company. You want to make sure there is not bad links or bad info out there. This is extremely important if you are trying to maintain an certain image for your brand.

Reputation management is very important. There can be a lot of bad info going around out there if you don't keep an eye out.

To increase your search engine results, try to establish an internet presence on various websites. For example, advertise your business in online directories (some are free, some are not), post on forums (such as this), create a blog. Due to Google's algorithms, the more times your website or name appears on other reputable sites, the more it will help your rankings. Linkbacks are key and should be kept in mind when creating a website.
